Chapter 14: New Life

Woo, chapter time!!! Here's a new chapter, and I'll write one to make up for yesterday. Please excuse any typos, and feedback always appreciated!!

Letting Levi go was the better option to go with.

Eren still called Levi, talked to him and video chatted on Skype and such, but he learned to let him go. He learned to accept that Levi had moved away. And he learned to appreciate that he was able to see and talk to Levi still, even if it was through a screen.

Life got a big brighter for Eren.

He got out of bed and went back to school, hung out with Mikasa and Armin a bit more, and ate all of his meals properly.

Though, in his heart, he could feel that empty void that only Levi could fill. He ignored it completely, only recognizing it when it became too great to bear any longer alone. That's when he would go to his mother and sob silently into her chest as she hugged him tight and murmured understanding word into his ears, telling him that it'll all be okay. Eventually, he was able to stop crying, and ignore the hole in his heart a bit longer.

This was his life for the next five years.

"I can't believe my baby is going into college!" Carla beamed, pulling Eren close as she enveloped him into a tight hug. Eren heaved an annoyed sigh, but smiled nonetheless and hugged his mother back.

Yes, Eren was headed to college. It was the college he had always wanted to get into, and he even got in on a scholarship. Being ranked 5th in his class seemed to help provide that money given to him, and he couldn't help but smirk in satisfaction. He was headed off to Rose University, which was just about an hour away from home. His mother begged him to stay with them, but he stressed that two hours of driving daily would take a toll on his car and wallet, and so Carla gave in to him and allowed him to rent a dorm.

"I know, Mom," the brunet huffed. "Now, I need to get to the dorms soon. This is Freshman week, meaning I need to get there early so I can get unpacked and tour the campus. I need to go, Mom."

A single tear fell down Carla's cheek. "I know, baby, but I don't want to let you go. It seems like it was just yesterday I was checking out of the hospital with you, but now..." Her voice trailed off into a sniffle as another tear ran down her cheek.

Eren looked up at his father, who was standing just a few feet away. He mouthed a silent 'Help me' to Grisha, but only received a smirk. He rolled his eyes in response, before tightening his grip on Carla gently. "Mom, I'm not that far away, you know I'll visit more often than not. But I really need to go now."

Carla sniffed again, before pulling away and nodding her head, wiping away the wet trails. "You're right, honey, you don't want to be late." A bittersweet smile spread across her cheeks. "Call us when you get there and get unpacked."

Eren smiled and planted a sweet kiss on his mother's damp cheek. "I will mom, don't worry." He turned to his father, giving him a manly hug and a received a pat on the back. "I'll see you guys later, then." With that, he got into his loaded car and drove off.

When Eren arrived at Rose University, he checked in, and received his key and number to his dorm.

"Schedules will be handed out next Wednesday, followed by a tour given from one of the seniors on campus," the petite blonde, Christa, informed Eren as she handed him his key. "Although, you can explore the campus before then, if you want. There's a coffee shop not too far from here that has good coffee and sandwiches for a great price."

Eren smiled, nodding. "Thanks, I'll be sure to check it all out." Giving a wave, he headed towards the elevator and pressed the button for his designated floor.

Arriving at his actual dorm, he opened the door and noticed that someone else's stuff was already in there. 'Must he my new roommate,' Eren thought as he set his stuff down on the clear side of the room. He didn't see anyone else there, though, so he figured they must be out at the moment.

"None of this fucking shit is anywhere near clean," a deep voice muttered from the direction of the bathroom, causing Eren to jump slightly. He didn't realize that his roommate was actually here. The slam of a cabinet door followed after, along with the bathroom door opening, revealing an all too familiar undershave haircut.

Eren froze, eyes widening and jaw dropping before it turned into a grin, practically running over to the shorter man. "Levi!"

Said raven looked up at the brunet before he was literally swept off his feet, Eren having tacked him and hugging him fiercely. At first, he had no idea what was going on, until it registered in his mind. 'Oh my gosh, Eren is here. My brat is here and he's my roommate.'
