Eyes like darkness
Hair so black
A smile that brightens up
A whole world, just like that
I know this sounds cheesy
But please don't make me feel queasy
For you are the friend
I never wanted to have
A stubborn demeanour wherever you strut
A veil of shyness that you never crush
For my friend, when one turns seventeen
Bottled up feelings burst out with such keen
I know that we're friends, childhood ones at that
But can't we escape the friend zone
And get past all of that?
This wall of limits that we have set
I want to burn it down, so you can see we could have met
Met as lovers, not as the friends that we are
Get over our feelings, and have our hearts a little less apart
For you and I, my friend, we're meant to be
As lovers, not as friends, as you can't seem to see
Throw the chains away, come take my hand
I promise I'll love you
And never let you look back
