Olivia:
I stuffed the paper back into my pocket just as Shayne approached. "Ready to go? I'm all done," he smiled.
"Ready," I smiled back, grabbing his hand.
"Did Sam bother you at all?" Shayne rubbed my hand with his thumb.
"No, not at all," I turned my head slightly to look back at Sam. He met my eyes, grinned, and gave me a wink. I frowned, wondering how he could do such a thing to his friend. I looked back at Sam and raised my eyebrows, leaning my head on Shayne's shoulder.
"Hey, you okay?" Shayne looked at me, surprised at me leaning on him. I quickly lifted my head and nodded. I decided not to tell Shayne about Sam asking me out as to not ruin our first date.
"So... I'm your girlfriend?" I tilted my head at Shayne, a small smile playing at my lips.
"W-well, yeah, I mean... if you want to - " Shayne stuttered, his face turning red.
"Of course," I smiled at him reassuringly. "I was just surprised to hear you say that for the first time," I squeezed his hand as we walked to the car.
We drove the rest of the way in silence, both of us nervous about the big step we were taking. As we pulled up in front of the restaurant, I broke the silence by asking:
"Is this weird?"
Shayne parked the car and looked at me. "Is what weird?"
"Us being together? After being friends for so long?" I turned to face him in the car seat.
"I don't think so. We were good friends, and then we started to like each other a little bit more. Is there anything weird about that?" Shayne said as though he was trying to convince himself.
"I know, but is this gonna be weird for the fans? And for the squad? Is this going to be a long-term thing?" I pushed, immediately taking back what I said. Why would I ask him that? We've only been on one date, I don't want to scare him away.
Shayne paused as though he was contemplating everything I just said. "All I know is that I like you. And hopefully, you like me too. And that's all that matters right now," he grabbed my hand and squeezed it. "Now let's go on our date," he smiled, opening his car door.
I stepped out, for once feeling confident in our... relationship. Can I call it that yet?
We walked into the restaurant, hand in hand, and stood at the door, waiting to be seated.
"Hi, just the two of you?" a waitress handed us some menus. "Follow m-" She paused, looking at us. "Oh my god it's Shayne and Olivia from Smosh!" she squealed excitedly. "I'm such a big fan!" I immediately let go of Shayne's hand and smiled.
"Hi!" I smiled at her. "So nice to meet a fan," I held out my hand for her to shake. She shook my hand and then looked at Shayne. "Can I have a hug?" she asked him, turning red.
"Of course," he smiled back, opening his arms to hug her. I chuckled as this happened all the time. Every time our squad went out, the female fans in particular really liked to hug him. We took a picture with her and we watched her post it on her Instagram.
"Where's the rest of the squad?" she asked as she led us to our seats.
"O-oh, um... it's just us two today, we're discussing some writing ideas," I lied.
"Oh, cool!" she bought it, handing us our menus.
After she left, I whispered loudly to Shayne. "See? This is what I meant by it being weird. We can never go on dates outside and stuff - the fans will figure it out! And not even Ian can know, either,"
"I know, Liv," he sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. "I don't know what to do,"
He took my hands in his and we just talked. the rest of the night, a weight hanging over both of our heads.
