Olivia:

I slammed my car door shut and rushed up the stairs to the apartment Shayne and I shared.

"Shit shit shit," I muttered under my breath, looking at my watch. 7:47. Shit. I'm over two hours late.

We were supposed to leave at 5:30 for our dinner date but I got distracted while writing my new script. Shayne was taking the day off, and I told him I would be home by 5 so we could go to the dinner he had made reservations for a long time in advance. Some fancy restaurant.

I jammed my keys into the lock, panting for breath from running up three flights of stairs. Swinging the door open, I called his name. "Shayne?" No response.

"Shayne?" I called again, closing the door quietly behind me.

"Liv?" I heard him call softly from the bedroom. I rushed in to find him sitting on the bed facing the wall.

"What are you doing?" I softly asked, still panting.

"Where were you?" He turned around to face me, his eyebrows knit tightly.

"I'm so, so sorry. I got carried away with the work and I didn't realize what time it was. I'm so sorry about that," I sat next to him and rubbed his shoulder and he flinched at my touch. "I'm so sorry about the reservation," I whispered, upset because he moved his hand away from mine  when I tried to grab it.

"I'm not upset about the reservation," he frowned, wiping his hands on his jeans and turning away from me again.

"Then what's wrong?" I stopped trying to grab his hand.

"Liv, what if something happened to you?" He turned to me. "Did you not see my texts? Did you not see that I called you six times?" he ran his hand through his hair, clearly upset.

"Baby," I smiled slightly, happy that he wasn't mad and also happy at the fact that he cared so much about me. "I'm fine. I'm sorry I wasn't looking at my phone then," I rolled over on the bed so my head was resting on his knees and he was forced to look at me. He turned away again.

"I'm being serious, liv. I was really worried. If something happened to you--" he paused and turned his face away again.

"Shayne?" I reached up to touch his face, worried.

"I- I don't even know what I would do," he sighed. I smiled sadly.

"I'm sorry, Shayne. I promise I will always text you back and I won't let anything happen to me," I hoisted myself onto his lap. "I have to keep myself alive so just so I can keep on seeing you," I half-joked, meeting his eyes. His eyes softened as they met mine and I buried my head in his chest. "We can still eat somewhere?" I suggested, my voice muffled in his hoodie.

He ran his hands slowly through my hair, staying quiet. I started to get nervous that he was still going to be upset but then he interrupted my thoughts by saying, "anything you want, princess."

My heart beat faster. Princess. I could get used to that nickname.
