As the contract between a human and a reaper was made, not only was there thunder and lightning rumbling and shaking and flashing in the sky, but a huge wind from out of nowhere passed through them in an instant, before disappearing, stopping.

Bahati wore a smile on her full lips as she shook Jae Kwang's hand. She didn't want to die in vain like she was supposed to. Who does? It just turned out she could do something about it, like it was fate or something.

Jae smiled down at Bahati as he agreed to the contract the two had made. Never in his right mind would he had believed this would have happened to him. It did t matter, though. He was just glad that he would finally get his promotion and sooner than he thought. It was all thanks to this human girl, Bahati.

However, just as the contact was made, the woman that was in front of the two of them, texting on her phone, had finally crossed the street. When the woman was in the middle of the street, so close to the other side, a red car came speeding towards her, uncontrollably. The woman didn't have time to look up from her phone and see the car, before she was hit. The impact threw her body 50 feet away from the car. Bahati had to watch as she stared at the now dead woman in front of her. She was lying on the ground, lifeless eyes widened, staring at the sky. Blood flowing from all of her wounds into the street. It was a horrible sight to see. Bahati closed her eyes and shoved her face in Jae's chest as she tried to keep from looking and thinking about the deceased woman. Jae looked at the scene with disappointment as he tried to comfort Bahati by placing his hand on her back and rubbing it up and down.

Bahati sees ghosts and spirits all the time, but never had she had to watch someone die right in front of her. Not outside the television set. It was scary and horrifying and gruesome.

"Why? Why did this happen? Why her?" Bahati asked as she still had her face in Jae's chest.

Jae continued to soothe her by rubbing her back. "A balance had to have been made. For the price of a life to be saved, another's life must have been sacrificed to create the balance and order of the world". Jae explained to her, staring at the poor woman sadly.

"You mean, this was my death?" Bahati asked.

"Yes, it was supposed to be". Jae told her.

"Because of our contract, because my life was saved, someone else had to take my place?" She asked him, trying to understand everything.

"Yes", he simply told her. "I'm sorry you had to see that". He said to her, trying to shield her from the scene.

The ambulance came to pick up the body and the police came to arrest the drunk man behind the wheel of the vehicle. After that, Jae tried to take Bahati away from the scene.

"Where do you live?" He asked her.

Bahati couldn't say it, she just thought of it in her head. She was still shocked to what she had to witness. Her brain couldn't form any words or sentences, at least coherent ones.

However, that was all Jae had needed. Being a reaper, Jae was able to "teleport" to wherever he wanted to go if he had just about it. He had saw the image in Bahati's mind and now instantaneously brought her back to her apartment. He had looked around, noticing how small it was, before leading her to her bedroom.

"Rest", he kindly demanded her.

Bahati didn't hesitate to slide into her bed and underneath her covers.

"Tomorrow, you help fulfill your side of the contract", he told her, pointing at her.

Bahati stared at him, frowned, before pulling the covers over her shoulders and shifting her body the other way, so that her back faced him.

"What kind of answer is that?" He asked, raising his hand, pretending to prepare to smack her on top of her head. "Aitch, these human women are so unbearable". He complained as he let his hand down.

"Rest up, Miss Okeke", he whispered to her, before turning off the light in her bedroom and closing her door.

Jae looked around the apartment, not a bit impressed, but he didn't expect much anyways. She was always alone in the world. She had to make a living the only way she knew how and that doesn't pay much. It just gets her by. It was enough for her for now.

He sat down on the couch and decided to lay his head back with his legs outstretched. He crossed his arms across his chest and stared at the ceiling. Even though he didn't worry about anyone finding out about the contract he made with Bahati, but it still worried him. The "What if's" worried him. What if somebody found out? Could be another reaper and blabbering to their superiors. It could come straight from his superiors and then he would be in deep shit. What was he going to do if they ever found out about it? Could he come up with a legitimate excuse?

"Was it not Bahati's time and it was life and death?" He thought out loud, but he shook his head. "They know when and how she was supposed to pass away. That excuse wouldnt work on them".

Jae scratched his head, frustrated about trying to come up with excuse, until he finally decided to give up. There was no use trying to do it now. Maybe something will come to his head someday. He had hoped it was soon.

After that, Jae closed his eyes after he rested his arms in the back of his head. Bahati had made him tired. Reapers get sleepy too.

Bahati laid in bed, thinking of that woman, getting hit by a car and dying. It was her fault. She killed that poor woman. If she had not made that deal with Jae, that woman would have been alive. Bahati didn't know how to deal with that. She wanted to curl up in a ball and disappear.

"I'm so sorry", whispered. "I'm so very sorry".

Tears trickled down her cheeks as Bahati was finally able to go to sleep.
