A brown, yellowish folder was dropped in front of a 29 year old Jae on his desk, as he was studying and researching. Someday, Jae was going to take over as CEO of his father's business. His father wanted him to prepared for when it is his time.
Jae looked up to see his mother and then looked back down at the folder in front of him.
"What is this?" He asked.
"Marriage prospects. I want you to look at them and select which one catches your attention and then will set up a date for the two of you."
Jae rolled his eyes and groaned. He didn't have much of a choice. It wasn't like he was dating anyone nor met anyone he had any interest in. Besides, he expected that he was going to be in an arranged marriage, like he expected to take over his father's business.
"Okay."
His mother smiled, before she walked out of his room and shut the door behind her.
Jae took his attention off his studies and turned his attention to the folder in front of him instead and checked out whom his parents approved marriage with.
All the women were beautiful and interesting, but none were catching his attention.
Jae was going to have to think carefully, since he was gonna have to be married to her.
He sighed and slammed his head on the desk multiple times.
"I hate this."
He got up, put on some socks, grabbed the folder, his headphones, and a jacket, walked downstairs, put on his shoes and walked out the front door. He needed some fresh air.
His parents locked him up in his bedroom because he got into another altercation with some guys at a park. They cared more about their reputation than anything else. They didn't want him to bring any unnecessary or negative attention to himself because it would affect how the public sees his family.
With headphones in his ears, Jae walked around, until he was at the local library. He found the quietest place with no one around and decided that it was perfect. He sat down at a tan brown table and glossed over the folder once gain, carefully looking, thinking, comparing, contrasting, weighing pros and cons about each woman in the folder. His life depended on this. He didn't want to be stuck with a woman he might hate, but you can't really judge all based on pictures and a profile. Gotta actually meet them to determine that.
However, Jae glanced up as a woman came in and headed straight for the book shelf. His eyes couldn't leave her. She was extremely beautiful. Her hair was dark, curly and puffy like clouds, and her skin was a deep enriched brown. At the moment, she was the only one that kept his attention. He watched her as she searched for a book on the shelf. He tried to etch every detail of her in his mind as he possibly could. Jae leaned his head on the palm of his hand and watched her.
A 26 year old Bahati too had ear buds in her ear, listening to music as she searched for a specific book that she wanted and knew this library had because she had checked online. She looked up and saw the book that she wanted as on the top shelf. She groaned because it was too high.
"Is this necessary? Who can reach all the up there?" She whispered to herself as she glared at the book that she wanted. It was the next book in the series that she was reading. The cliffhanger was bothering the shit outta her. She needed to continue reading the series.
She raised her arms and tried to reach the book, standing on the tip of her toes, but to no avail. She wasn't even close to reaching the book. She groaned again, but louder.
Jae watched as she struggled to get a specific book. He didn't hesitate to get up and walked over to her to assist her. He stood behind her and reached all the way to the top and grabbed the book easily.
