Song of the Chapter: Dreaming by Smallpools
I jolted upwards, feeling like I was about to hyperventalate.
"Cripe," I muttered. I can never sleep peacefully without my friends trying to prank me.
"Alright Al, you can stop now," I said. That's when I realized that my room isn't white.
> What's going on?
I shot Alison a text as I dressed myself quickly.
I put on some leggings then slid my white high waisted skinny jeans on over them. I tucked in an aztec printed shirt and put my black northface jacket on, slid on some black Uggs, and grabbed my phone on the way out.
<Come to the choir building. I'll explain everything.
Al replied.
<Choir is gayyyy.
Brandon said.
<Not as gay as you!
Replied Chad.
<Chill. We're not in high school anymore!
Faith texted.
> Forreal. I'll be there in five, Al.
I finally replied.
I silenced my phone, knowing those idiots would still be acting the way they did when we were sophomores.
*****
I smiled as I was greeted by the intense warmth of the choir building. I've never been one for singing, it just wasn't something I enjoyed, but honestly, this building was pretty cool.
"Al!" I shouted and went to hug her after I was done admiring the building.
I was the first one there besides her and John. They were holding hands, so I assumed they made up.
"You guys are so dumb! Only band is for nerds! Cmon," Faith shouted at the other boys.
I turned around only to be greeted by Brandon charging towards me. He picked me up then spun me around plotting a kiss upon my forehead when I landed.
"So....you know I had to leave my family right?" Brandon finally spoke.
"Well why would you do that!!" Al looked upset.
"Because when you 'left', I was in some weird shock. Like, my body jolted and I was having trouble breathing. So I told them I was going here to the campus nurse because free," he explained.
"Yeah, that jolty thing happened to me too!" Faith and Chad said in unison.
"Awww," they gasped and kissed. Gross. I thought.
"Yeah, that's why I told you all to come," Al kinda explained.
"Elaborate," I said confused.
"Follow me," she gave in.
*****
"It's cold as balls!!" Faith muttered.
"Chill," Al said until she realized it was a pun, then she and John burst into laughter.
"Where are we going?" Chad asked, sounding more confused than usual.
"We're almost there," Al assured.
It looked like we were walking in the woods to be honest. There were bare trees everywhere and the gray clouds were somewhat calming.
"Finally! A place to rest! I'm sooo tired!" shouted Faith.
"Actually, this is it," Al said quietly. By this point, we all stopped walking. It was breathtaking. It was like a high tech gazebo. The cherry red wood was highly grossed. There weren't any windows, but there was a wrap around porch with steps at every point of the pentagon.
Faith ran up to swipe her ID, and we all quickly followed.
She had layed down on the left side, God knows why, because the right side is obviously the most comfortable place.
It was like a window seat, minus a window of course, with room for two on the long body sized seat.
Al was standing.
"This is it," she sighed.
"Yeah, exactly like what I saw!" John yawned. Like a chain reaction, that yawn was followed by Al, Brandon, myself, Chad, then Faith.
"What happens if we all fall asleep at the same time?" I asked, kind of scared.
Al bit her lip. "I don't know.."
"Should we find out...?" Brandon suggested.
Al nodded her head and walked towards John in the middle. They lied down, and so did the rest of us.
Then, it went dark.
