What the team didn't know, however was the certified cheerleader who would come to every home meet they had and the occasional open practice. Not sitting at the edge of the bleachers, but near enough not to be talked to. He wasn't known. He liked it that way. His red and black skullcandy earbuds hung loosely from his neck, as he sat still looked down at his sketch pad. Maybe it was creepy to draw Percy almost naked, but it was the only way he could get a good portrait. They had one class as well as lunch in their tight and cramped cafeteria together. The pale, dark haired boy sat by himself, twiddling his skull ring, a few rows behind a group of girls. No, one could see him. He did that with most things. Walk with at least one person in the halls, be expressionless, nod instead of speaking, and read or draw instead of talking at lunch. These were his rules to stay unpopular. To stay unnoticed, they worked, because if you were to ask who Nico di Angelo is. People wouldn't know.

As Percy left the pool water droplets trickled down his back, like a raindrop on a car window. He pulled his goggles down his face letting them hang from his neck, revealing his beautiful turquoise eyes. Now, if you asked to describe his eyes, I could not tell you a descriptive visual. His eyes were so indescribable you'd think he was wearing contacts. Decorated this lovely light and aqua blue, with a touch of dark green and deep cerclean blue winding around his deep black pupil. Nico has drawn multiple drawings of Percy ever since he skipped a grade and got to transfer to high school a year early. However, he has never been able to color his eyes correctly. Nico could only see those beautiful eyes gazing over him love and lust filled in his imagination.

Percy continued to walk over to see his results, he was frustrated, but let no one see it. His score kept staying on the same number. For the state he was a champion. For himself, he was a failure.
It was the end of the meet, Percy made his way to the locker wanting to get rid of the chlorine that left his hair a crusty mess. He walked just outside the door and instantly ran into Luke as he bolted out of the doorway. That boy, was always in a hurry everywhere, Percy should just expect it now, but it still startled him enough to take a few steps back. How the layout of the pool is basically the locker room doors next to each other and then a few steps and the deep end. Percy heard a loud squeak, as he backed into something. In an instant, he moved with lightning speed and grabbed the hand of whoever was behind him and grabbed an icy cold hand. When Percy looked up he saw a baby, but yet still adultlike face, skin pale as if it was winter, black hair that looked fresh out of bed chic, and eyes squeezed shut with terror. The boy gripped his closed sketchbook with whatever strength he had which wasn't very much. Percy pulled the freaked out boy to him, apparently with a little too much force and he landed in Percy's slightly wet chest. Nico finally forced his closed eyes open and looked up. What he saw took the words from his mouth. He saw the blue eyes he dreamed filled with love and gratitude, but what he saw a few inches away from his deep brown almost obsidian eyes, were blue eyes filled with worry and confusion. Nico still shaken from his near death experience and run in with his crush said what only his mind could muster, "You can let go now."
