Chapter 9: Part 3

"Look, Percy it's not what you thi-" Annabeth's stuttering words were interrupted with Percy's strong, but breaking ones, "No it is what I think you two were making out during the party after Luke made me sloppy drunk," "Okay it's exactly what you think, wait. Luke you spiked his drinks!" Luke just smiled, "He was tipsy when I found him!" Annabeth just rolled her eyes, "how was I supposed to know how much jelly shots affected him." Annabeth ignored the blonde behind her, "Look I just wanted to apologize for what happened last night-" "How many times?" Percy barked. "Wha-" "How many times have you hooked up before," he made a disgusted face, "or after." "Since Christmas," Percy was sort of relieved, "Of Junior year." Everyone at the table made wide eyes, Percy included. Though his eyes also were threatening together. "You gonna apologize for all those times too? Huh?!" Percy barked making Annabeth quiver back to Luke, "Oh, yeah go back to your boy toy for comfort," Annabeth was fuming now, "What we do isn't your business! That's it Jackson I'm done trying to apologize," both of them were being loud, but Percy's last words were quiet and sad, "You never tried a year ago," with that Annabeth's face contorted with fury, unwinded and she stood there, emotionless. Luke however was only angrier, trying to drag back an upset Annabeth. Putting an arm over her and walking away.
Clapping behind Percy was the first thing he heard. None of the cafeteria paid much attention, but his whole table was cheering as if it was one of his swim meets, Percy fell into the seat next to Jason and they all patted his back, for the first time in a few days Percy was proud of himself. The rest of lunch went by with Percy smiling, Leo attacking Thalia with fries, and Thalia punching Leo right in the stomach.
Jason and Percy had a free period where they of course went to the pool. Walking to the water paradise Percy saw a familiar mop of black hair, "Nico!"
