Scorpius woke up in the middle of the night. The TV was switched off, the lights were turned off, and someone had draped a knitted blue blanket over Scorpius.
He noticed he was laying on something soft, and turned to see himself comfortably lying in Albus's lap. Albus was asleep, his hair messy and perfect.
Scorpius looked around the Potter's living room. It was stuffed with furniture, had wooden floors, walls, and ceiling, and a little Christmas tree was set up in the corner, with Luna's star sitting atop it. It was so quaint and lovely.
Scorpius decided he was comfortable where he was and didn't want to wake Albus, so he laid back down on Albus and closed his eyes.
"Are you awake, Scorpius?" he heard a familiar voice ask.
Scorpius's eyes fluttered open to see Lily Luna standing in front of him, her red hair neatly combed and tucked behind her ears.
"Yeah, good morning, Lily." Scorpius said quietly.
Albus was still fast asleep.
"Look, there's snow." Lily smiled.
Scorpius looked out the window next to the back door and saw the soft, white, luscious, powder falling. His face broke into a giant grin and he turned to shake Albus awake.
The boys ran upstairs to throw on their warm clothes. They thew on coats, Slytherin scarves, and gloves. They ran out with Lily, stopping only to yell at James to get out of bed, and into the snow they went.
Scorpius was helping Lily make a snowman, James was watching, while Albus was making snow angels.
Ginny and Harry came out on the porch with mugs of coffee, watching their kids and Scorpius playing.
"Oh, Mr. Chili, how ever will you dance with me?" Lily sighed dramatically, resting on the snowman.
"My fair maiden, I shall dance with you in substitute of Mr. Chili!" Scorpius shouted, and thrust his hand out to Lily.
Lily laughed and took it. They danced playfully around the snowman while James and Albus tried their best to sing a ballad. Lily and Scorpius tripped and ran into James and Albus, and everyone fell into the snow, laughing.
"Now that was a dance if I've ever seen one!" Ginny called, giggling.
"Al, do you think I could ask you something?" Scorpius asked later that day.
Albus turned to face his friend. He had a worried look on his face. He put down a comic book he was reading and sat up on his bed.
"Yeah, what it is?" Albus asked a little uneasily.
"It's just... my dad. I don't think he's right in the head, not since Mum died. I don't want him to just waste away. And I don't know what to do." Scorpius said, a few tears in his eyes.
"Hey, hey, don't cry, it's gonna be okay." Albus said hurriedly and wrapped Scorpius in a tight hug, much like the one in the Great Hall a few weeks ago.
Scorpius didn't cry, but hugged Albus back.
Somewhere in the hug, they both got lost. Scorpius pressed his forehead against Albus's and they looked into each other's eyes for a minute. They were both silent.
