Y/N POVI glanced up at my father, currently ranting about how some of the werewolves from Hamilton's pack crossed the border.
I rolled my eyes and blew a stray strand of hair from my face, fiddling with my hands boredly.
"Y/N?" My father asked, my attention shifted to him. "Yes father?" "Are you listening?" "Yeah.." I mumbled."Then what did I just assign you to do?" He seethed, I sighed and shrugged. "I don't know." I muttered, "You are to check the border with Burr and Lee, understood?" My dad told me.
"Yeah, dad." I mumbled and began to walk away with the two men. I licked my fangs, maybe I could get something to eat while I was out.
We walked in silence, I was alert and look around swiftly. Lee, Burr and I decided to split up. With no one to watch my back I had be extra alert.

John's POV
Alpha Hamilton finished the the hunting parties, sending them separate ways. I, being his beta, was left to check the border with Lafayette.
We chatted for a short bit before shifting into our wolves, I grinned at him and let out a deep howl before racing into the fog.
Lafayette let out a playful growl before bounding after me. "So what's it like having a mate?" I mind linked him, I was curious as I didn't have one yet.
"It's great. You'd do anything for them, be it hunting or watching the kids." He smiled, I flicked my ears forward with a grin.
I heard a twig snap and my gaze snapped to that direction, I saw a girl. About my age, she had H/L H/C hair, her eyes were the most beautiful shade of E/C.
I came to an abrupt stop causing Lafayette to run into me, we went tumbling a few feet. When I looked up at her, she had gotten just a little farther away, I could just barely make out her figure in the dense mist.
Lafayette apologized in a low tone before getting off me, I rolled onto my stomach and stood up. I shook myself before sniffing for her scent.
"Who in God's name is that?" I asked Lafayette, jerking my head in the woman's direction. "Y/N Jefferson, daughter of Thomas Jefferson. She's bad news, don't get yourself tangled in their mess." Lafayette sneered.
I wanted to snarl and snap at him, but I composed myself and let out a low growl instead. She's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
I could hear her faint mumbling of words and I could practically taste her scent. But if she's the daughter of Jefferson, she's a Vampire.
I sighed and turned, Lafayette padded ahead of me. But I couldn't help it, I silently turned back towards the girl.
I ran to her foggy figure, she froze and turned to me. I came to a stop in front of her, my gaze softening; even if I wanted to, I couldn't hurt her.
I heard from Hercules that this is what happens when you find your mate. Fuck, my mate's a vampire; but I still look at her with adoring eyes.
She lets out a hiss and got ready to fight, my ears pricked at the sight of this. I don't want to fight her, I backed away and shifted back into my human form.
I then got up-close and personal, my heart sped up as I inhaled her sweet scent. "You can't be.." I whispered, I feel her breath against my chin.
She seemed to relax slightly, I wanted to hold and protect her. She's a vampire, snap out of it! I couldn't stop myself though, my nose traced along her jawline before I let a word slip. "Mine." Was all I said.

Y/N POV
I stepped on a twig and cursed to myself. "Shit." Well if anyone was in the area, they now know where I am. I sighed and continued to walk peacefully until I heard thuds against the ground.
I heard a low growl and I could smell an unfamiliar scent, don't get me wrong the scent smelled amazing; but I couldn't make out what it was.
I turned and saw a large red-brown wolf rushing towards me, I froze in shock; this was a werewolf. Wolves don't get this big, the beast came to a stop in front of me.
I let out a low hiss and got ready to defend myself. But what I saw was not a monster. But instead a calm, almost affection gaze.
Their ears flicked forward and they stepped back, slowly their body changed into those of a man. This man was rather dashing and couldn't help but fawn over him the tiniest bit.
He had long brown hair that was pulled into a ponytail, freckles littered his features. He had soft green eyes and a quite sharp jawline. My breath hitched as he got close and personal.
I felt his breath against my nose, he exhaled and let out a few words. "You can't be.." he murmured quietly, I shuddered at his breath collided with my jaw.
His nose brushed against my jawline as he inhaled some more, he whispered something, "Mine." Was all he said.
I shivered and he chuckled and pulled away, he just stared at me. "W-Who are you?" I croaked, he flashed a tooth grin. His lips looked so kissable.
"My bad, princess. John Laurens, beta of Alpha Hamilton." He introduced himself, "Don't call me that." I seethed, he chuckled deeply again.
"Fine, sweetheart." He gave a coy smirk, I huffed and crossed my arms over my chest. "You realize you crossed the border, right?" I sneered.
"I do. But it was worth it." John claimed, leaning down so our noses were touching. I felt my face heat up, "You're cute when you blush." He purred and pulled away, sending a wink my way.
I scoffed, "And you're annoying, now, leave." I said firmly, "Why would I want to do that?" John arched a brow with a smirk. "Because this is for vampires." I stated.
I had only just now noticed he wasn't wearing a shirt but in face was shirtless, he wore some jeans though.
I found myself staring at his freckled chest, this man was very muscularly built. I saw his chest bounce as he let out a short laugh, "Like what you see, sweetheart?" John cooed.
I felt my face getting hot again and I shifted my attention to John, "Just g-go." I stuttered, damn why does he have to make me so flustered?
"As you wish, but I'll be back tomorrow. Hope to see ya, sweetheart." He purred and kisses my cheek, I scoffed in disgust as he shifted back and ran off.
I touched the place where he'd kissed me and rolled my eyes, he doesn't actually think I'll come back to see him, right?

I walked into my father's cabin, he was at the table eating dinner. After that encounter I didn't feel hungry, I felt oddly tingly.
I told him I was turning in early, he didn't mind and continued to eat. I went upstairs and to my room, shutting the door I pressed my back against it.
I slid down into a ball on the floor, just contemplating wether or not I should meet him tomorrow.
