Chapter 24: Expecting

Joy Pov

Nurse- ok so joy you said you were feeling nauseated all of sudden

Joy- yes ma'am

Nurse- ok have your breast started becoming more tendered and more sore

Joy- yeah actually and they gotten a little bit more bigger

Nurse- (nodding) and joy have you been constantly peeing

Joy- yeah I just thought it was drinking to much water or my bladder is weak (I chuckled)

Nurse- ok have you been getting headaches more often

I nodded starring at the nurse weird, what is she trying to prove.

Nurse- ok one more question to confirm my conclusion joy when was the last time you was sexually active

Joy- three weeks ago

Nurse- alright I'm going to need you to pee in this cup for me

I hesitantly took the cup and went into the bathroom.

Joy- this better be for a good reason (I mumbled to myself as I sighed)

I peed in the cup and cleaned up. I washed my hands and walked out. The nurse grabbed the cup with her gloved hand. She examined the cup and then stuck a white stick in the cup. I sat there patient and as she watched the stick.
   3 minutes passed and she took out the stick and the stick out and observed it. I was getting impatient watching her. She looked at me and then the stick and nodded.

Nurse- well Ms. Joy I figured what your problem is sweetie congratulation you are pregnant

I stood there frozen. I don't think I heard that right. Did she just said I was pregnant? I wanted to cry.

Nurse- sweet heart was the boy that came in with you, is he the one you had sex with

I nodded slowly still in shock.

Nurse- I'll send him in for y'all to talk and you have to tell your parents so they can help you go through with this and take you to a doctors

I nodded once again unable to speak. She walked out the office and came back in with Lucas following. I gulped as he smiled at me. He sat down in the chair and immediately frowned at my face expression.

Lucas- baby what's wrong (he grabbed my hand)

I looked at our hands and broke down.

Nurse- I'll give you two a minute so y'all can talk (she walked out)

Lucas- talk about what, what's wrong baby stop crying (he spoke softly as he rubbed my hand)

Joy- Lucas I'm p-pregnant

He looked shocked and stood up. I stood up with him too. He gazed at me, his eyes has so much emotions.

Joy- please say something (I whined)

Lucas- the fuck am I suppose to say joy, I just found out my girlfriend is caring my baby inside her (he snapped)

Joy- don't be mad at me this was a two person job Lucas if you covered up we wouldn't be in this mess (I snapped back)

Lucas- I know one damn thing we're not killing this baby just in case you started thinking about it or giving her up for adoption (he gritted out) their will be no fucking options about this

Joy- how could you think I was going g to do that to my baby

Lucas- you mean our baby joy you fucking said this was a fucking two person job (he shouted)

Joy- stop yelling at me (I screamed)

Tears came out of my eyes and Lucas looked at me. He then abruptly walked out the office slamming the door. I sat back on the bed and cried. Why is he so angry? The nurse came back in and said I could rest for the rest of the day. I laid back and closed my eyes as sleep took over me.

Lucas Pov

I walked out of the school and went into my car. I hit the steering wheel pissed as fuck.

Lucas- fuck (I barked as laid my head on my hand)

Trust me, I'm happy joy is pregnant but I'm also scared. Y'all wondered what happen to my mother and why I leave with my uncle. My mother died giving birth to me. She was too weak after the labor and died. She married another guy before I was born, so when I was born she wanted his last name to go on my birth certificate.
  I didn't tell my dad that was reason why I didn't have his last name but when he called her a bitch I was pissed. He apologized about it for he took it too far. I heard a knock on the window and saw king. I groaned and unlocked the door for him to come in. He hopped in and looked at me.

King- yo cuz are you ok I saw you walking out and you went in your car

Lucas- joys pregnant (I mumbled quietly)

King- nigga what (he asked shock)

Lucas- she's pregnant king

King- I heard yo ass Lucas what the fuck man

Lucas- I know I know this is huge

King- is she keeping it

Lucas- yeah her ass is keeping the baby, I told her their is no fucking options about my baby

King- damn nigga you ready to be a father

Lucas- yeah I guess I should be

King- where she at

Lucas- I left her in the nurse office

King- what the fuck, why

Lucas- I just needed to think and besides we were arguing

King- nigga that ain't no excuse to leave her she needs you Lucas she has a fucking human being growing inside her that shit scary

Lucas- (I sighed knowing he was right) you right man but I'm scared too I mean what if she becomes like my mom and dies when she gives birth I can't go through that shit

King- (sighing) look I feel ya bruh but right now man it's about her and your baby I know this shit is scary for you but it's also scary for her man do you know that miscarriages can happen at any moment in life from anything stress, someone crashing into the belly or diseases that could happen this shit is scary for them females no girl wants to do this alone when you finished calming down go back inside that office and comfort her especially with the fact she is bipolar and have bad anxiety she needs all the comfort right now bruh

   I nodded as he patted my shoulder and walked out the car leaving me in my thoughts. I sighed as I drove to the store. I picked out joy favorite flowers which were orchids. I picked out a red teddy bear that had a heart saying I love you on its belly. I grabbed some heart balloons.
   Her favorite color is red just like her damn daddy. I payed out the price and walked out the car. I went back to the school and snuck back in. Right now it was lunch and the middle of 5th. I walked to the nurse office, as I walked in I saw joy laying down facing the ceiling. The nurse smiled at me and walked out the room closing the door.
   Joy looked up and starred at me. I walked up to her. She stood up and I stood in front of her.

Lucas- for you (I handed her gifts to her)

Joy- thanks (she croaked out)

   Her face had fresh tear stains and her face was red and puffy. I grabbed her and embraced her as she softly cried into my chest. She started lightly punching my chest. I looked up at the ceiling trying not to cry but then the water works kicked in and I cried softly with her.
