So, everyone and their thrice-removed distant cousin on their mom's side knows that Masky and Hoodie are not creeypastas, they actually belong Marble Hornets (and I'm getting real tired of the condescending attitude displayed by anyone who makes that point).
However, they are associated with creepypasta, most likely, because the existence of the mixture of the Slenderman and the Operator (who are two separate entities) and the whole explanation of Proxies which resulted in Masky and Hoodie being in connection to the Slenderman rather than the Operator.
It might also be in connection to somebody finding Marble Hornets fanart featuring Masky, Hoodie, and the Operator. However the person was probably only familar with the Slenderman origins and decided that Masky and Hoodie are just another part of untold Slenderman lore.
Or, quite possibly, since there is no real canon for creepypastas, it doesn't matter!
Creepypastas have no affect on the Marble Hornets Universe and vice versa, everybody should know by now that Masky and Hoodie aren't creepypastas and originates from 'Marble Hornets', but it's not like the fact they're from a completely separate source material is going to stop people from writing them in their creepypasta fanfictions.
Also, just a side-note, can we STOP with the condescending attitude towards people who do write them in the fandom.
It's super unnecessary.
