Jane has a lot of source material to sort through, from being directly involve in Jeff's life before his whole 'killing my family' moment to well after that.
In one version, she is horrifically and realistic burnt and receives gifts from Jeff which are suppose to egg her on into exacting her revenge on Jeff. Especially, when coupled with the information of that her family was slaughtered by the killer himself.
In another, she is subjected to experiments which gave her iconic image.
More or less, Jane vehemently despises Jeff. It's obvious to everyone due to their history together and the fact that HE KILLED HER WHOLE FAMILY!
Jane also gets a lot of hate for being a Jeff The Killer knock-off which isn't 100% accurate. Jane has a multitude of sources for her origin unlike Jeff. She doesn't try to be a good person, she's killing the people she knows (or believes to know) Jeff is targeting in order to lure him out so she can kill him.
Every complaint against Jane seems to default to her being a bitch who is just as much as a killer as Jeff and etc. but, when did Jane ever call herself a 'good person' or 'a hero'?
She knows she's killing innocent people, but she doesn't care because she is exacting her own brand of vengeance, other people be damned.
