Kaya rolled her eyes and scoffed, "As if you don't want to go to Magdalena Coutier's masquerade ball. I know you love her just as much as I do, if not more."

Amara waved her hand, "That's not the point. I can't, I...have to work."

Her eyebrow slightly twitched, and she tried to regain control of it.

"You lie!" Kaya exclaimed.

She pointed at Amara's eyebrow.

"Your twitch gave you up!" A huge smile spread across her face.

Amara smacked her finger away, "Oh shut up that means nothing!"

"It does too!" Kaya teased, "Oh come on, you're saying that like you actually go to a nine to five job."

Amara continued to pout.

Kaya's smile faded.

"Really Amara, do you not want to go?" She asked.

Amara thought it over, On one hand, she knew she would have a good time. She would be with Kaya, they would be dancing, and if she was lucky, she might even get to meet Magdalena Coutier herself! Plus, she loved dressing up for events, and she knew the perfect place she could find the cutest mask.

Amara shook her head, trying to rid her brain of those thoughts, the pros were slowly beginning to outweigh the cons. On the other hand, she would be heading back to L.A. soon, and really needed to review her lines for the upcoming episode. There were also meetings she needed to attend and other work she had to get done. There were just too many things to do and a lot of "x" factors involved.

Amara rubbed the back of her neck, remembering the pain that had bothered her earlier.

"I don't know Kay...I have to check my schedule."

Kaya eyed her cautiously, then shifted back to her usual chipper self, "Well suit yourself, you read the invitation, you know I have to RSVP."

She picked up Amara's phone off the table and tossed it in her lap, "Better get to checking that schedule." She chuckled and stood up. "Are you hungry? 'Cuz I'm' hungry."

Amara played with her phone in between her hands and rolled her eyes.

She looked up at Kaya, "Honestly, when are you not hungry?"

Kaya drew a long face and folded her arms across her chest.

"Seriously Kaya," Amara clicked her phone on and read the time, "It's 1:02, we just had breakfast."

"But that was a few hours ago..." Kaya whined, "can't we order something else?"

Amara shrugged her shoulders in defeat and sighed, "Check the outside of the fridge, I think I have some takeout menus on there."

Amara pumped her fist in the air, "Yes!" She hurried into the kitchen. "Amara!" she squealed, "Guess what! It's raining!"

Amara leaned over on the couch and peered outside the window to her right, sure enough, rain was beating down outside. "Ugh," she groaned.

That was one thing she loved about Los Angeles, it was always sunny.

Any day you could go to the beach or go out for a hike, but not in New York.

It was always overcast and most days than not, raining. Amara clicked open her phone again and logged into her email. She began to scroll through her most recent messages. About eight lines down was an email with the subject line, URGENT!
