Amara's mouth hung open, she watched as Namaste bowed and left the stage.
'A constant reminder that I am unworthy of your love.'
She replayed the words over in her head. "Kaya," she called.
Kaya stood on her feet still clapping and whistling.
"Kaya!" she called louder.
Kaya looked down, "You call me?" she asked smiling, "man wasn't that amazing!" her eyes were as wide as saucers and the rhythm of her hands didn't stop.
Amara smiled back and motioned for her to bend down, once Kaya's ear was leveled with Amara's mouth she said, "He's the guy!"
Kaya looked down at her confused.
The crowd's clapping began to cease, and Kaya took her seat, her eyes never left Amara's as she waited for her to further explain.
"The guy I talked to at the ball," Amara pointed at the stage where he stood before, "Namaste that's him."
Kaya shook her head, "Wait, wait, wait, how do you know?"
The main lights for the building switched on as the ones for the stage dimmed, slowly people started rising from their seats and heading towards the lobby in hopes of conversing with the poets.
"Did you guys like it!?"
Amara looked up at Magdalena who had appeared in front of them, "Wasn't he amazing!"
Amara's eyes widened.
"Your friend is Namaste?"
She knew Magdalena had invited her because her friend was featured in the competition, but what were the odds that he was the guy Amara had met at her ball.
Magdalena smiled proudly, "Well Namaste is his poet name, his real name is Amans and no he's my BEST friend."
"Amans," Amara whispered to herself, her heart rate spiking.
"Actually if we move quickly," Magdalena started, looking around at the people scurrying about, "we might be able to catch him before he leaves."
Amara stood up quickly, eager to finally meet Amans face to face.
Kaya smiled and grabbed Amara's wrist, "Yes let's do that, but first," she wiggled around, "we have to use the ladies room," she tugged on Amara's wrist for her to follow.
Amara gave her a puzzling look, "What do you think you're doing," she hissed, tugging her wrist back.
"I'm trying to help you," Kaya narrowed her eyes.
"Well alright," Magdalena smiled distractingly as she was trying to spot Amans in the crowd, "I'll see if I can find him," Magdalena started to head in the direction of the lobby.
"Come on," Kaya said grabbing Amara's wrist once more and tugging her to an outside balcony, most likely frequented for smoke breaks.
Kaya let go of her wrist once they were outside and ran her fingers through her hair.
Amara watched impatiently, "I finally know the identity of the man from that night, and you pull me outside for a smoke break."
"Look before you go crazy on me how do you even know that's the right guy."
"I. Already. Told. You."
"Noooo, you just said he was the one, I'm asking how are you so sure?"
Amara sighed, "The line he said, you know the one towards the end of his piece?"
Kaya nodded her head."He said that to me at the ball that night."
