"I've been writing poetry for--"

Amans stopped and scribbled a few words down on his notepad, "Writing has just been a passion of mine--"

He stopped again and looked over his paper once more, "You know what," Amans threw the notebook down on his coffee table in front of him and plopped down on the couch.

He was becoming frustrated with himself and was in desperate need of a break. He knew what he wanted to say for tomorrow night, but he just didn't know how to say, which was ironic since writing was his life.

He waited a couple more seconds and then took a deep breath, reaching for his notebook he was preparing to start again when his phone began to vibrate. He dug around in his satchel for his phone, but once he had reached it, the ringing ceased.

He pressed the home button, bringing his screen to life,

One missed call from Mags

He hit redial and waited as the phone rung, after the fourth ring he was about to hang up when Magdalena's chipper voice came on the line,"Hello!"

"Hey, you called me?" He said.

"Yeah! Give me one second," there was a little shuffling on the other end of the phone, and then Magdalena came back on, "ok, what's up?"

"Mags...you called me..."

"Oh right, right! Sorry," she laughed, "are you practicing right now for tomorrow?"

Amans sighed and laid out on the couch, "Something like that," he drew out.

"Uh oh, I know that voice, what's going on?"

He closed his eyes, "I don't know, I'm working on my introduction and it's just coming out like blah."
"What about the piece itself?"
"Oh, I memorized that already. I just feel so awkward introducing myself you know?"

"So don't. Do you have to? I mean don't they call you on the stage and you just perform."

"Yeah something like that, but most poets--"

"Et stop right there, you're not like most poets, you do your own thing. Just get up there and recite your butt off!"

Amans laughed, "I can always count on you to inspire me Mags, honestly."

"I know it's my job," she paused, "oh and where did you go last night?"

"Oh you know, just for a stroll, needed some fresh air to clear my head."

"Amaannss..."

"Well, where do you think I went? I went home!"

"Why? You left so early!"
"Well yeah, I needed to rest so that I could work on my poem in the morning,"

"But I thought you said you already had it memorized."

"Yeah I did, but I needed to make some revisions."

"Hmmm I see, and coincidentally this all went through your head, just before midnight hit and everyone unmasked themselves."

Amans paused.

"Dammit Mags why didn't you tell me about that!"

"Well I was going to, but we were kinda mad at each other on Thursday, and I knew you would find out eventually."

"Oh yeah like when everyone is removing their masks from their face!"

Amans rolled his eyes and shook his head, annoyed with Mags response.
