Forty-seven dates later, Amans and Amara were official.
Their careers often took them to different places in the world, but when they couldn't travel together, they made it work. Facetime calls here, unannounced arrivals there, they made sure they kept their love alive.
After Amans had received his $250,000 prize from the Millhouse Poetry Competition, he and Amara made the decision to move in together. Amans didn't exactly jump at the idea of moving in with his girlfriend and had even fought to keep his home, but ultimately her reasons just made more sense. His only one being that traditionally the woman was supposed to move into the male's house.
As promised there was a bonus to Amans's prize. He was offered a two year deal with Simon Schuster, very distinguished publisher's in New York, which he accepted right away. He was now working on his third best seller for them, drawing his inspiration from all over the world, compiling them into stories and poems. All signed, Namaste. He only had one rule before going to publishing.
He never finalized a piece without it being heard by Amara first.
Amara continued her career as an actress, now having her companion join her at events and red carpets. Her fans loved Amans. During one of her shoots on her latest film, "Breaking Into Love," she came across a director who was interested in meeting Amans. He had read several of his works and wondered if he had anything he wanted to make into a film.
Amans had longed to pitch a screenplay. He had been creating them ever since he took an interest in writing, but he never thought an opportunity would reach him this fast.
Amara gave the director Amans's card, who scheduled a meeting with him the following afternoon. Amans met him along with some other very prestigious producers, and then he left.
They got the call the following week.
It was a go.
But that wasn't the only exciting news.
That same Sunday afternoon Amans got down one knee and proposed to the girl that changed his life.
They stood on the sandy beaches of El Matador.
Just the two of them together looking into each other's eyes, like the day they truly met.
PRESENT DAY.
"Thank you for coming in, expect to hear a call from us within the upcoming week if we want you."
Amans smiled and looked at Amara, "Don't you think that was a little harsh?"
She waved him off, "Oh no, they used to do it to me all the time. I'm just telling her the truth. I wasn't rude," she looked over at Amans and lowered her voice, "I've met some rude ones, believe me."
Amans formed an "o" with his mouth and nodded, "But what did you think? You like her?"
"Ehhh, I don't know she didn't exactly say, Amara," she waved her hand dramatically in front of her for emphasis
Amans laughed, "Well no one is going to be exactly like you babe, that's why it's called acting."
Amara huffed, "I know, I'm just too amazing," she smiled and blinked her eyelashes repeatedly at him.
He laughed and slid his hand into hers.
"I love you, Amara Parker."
"And I love you Amans..." she trailed off.
He waited for her to finish.
She just looked at him.
"Oh come on!" He laughed, "I just said my last name!"
She laughed uncontrollably, "I know, I know, I just have a bad memory."
Amans rolled his eyes, "You're an actress."
She continued to laugh, and Amans slid his hand into hers.
They both grew silent, and Amara leaned in for a kiss.
When she opened her eyes, Amans had an enormous smile on his face.
"To our story," she said.
"To our story."
