Kaya rolled around on the floor giggling like a child.
"This movie gets me every time!"
After the ball on Friday, the two girls had parted ways.
Kaya remembered she had a meeting with a new client early Saturday evening, but she promised Amara she would make it up to her by hanging out some other time.
So there the girls sat, after having pushed the couch to the farthest corner of the room and loading the rug with pillows acquired from both Amara's sofa and bed.
They had two boxes of deep dish pizza on the coffee table in front of them along with a half-empty bowl of popcorn and an assortment of their favorite classic movies.
"Oh my gosh Amara isn't this hu-larious!" She spoke as if it wasn't there fifth time watching it together.
Admittingly, Amara loved watching movies over and over again.
She took pride in memorizing lines from certain scenes and as an actress she enjoyed classics where she could learn from some of the greats, but tonight was different.
She sat on the rug full of pillows with Kaya and looked out at the TV screen, but her mind wandered back to Friday night.
Kaya's laughing ceased.
She reached for the remote and paused the movie.
Amara blinked and looked over at her, "Why'd you stop it?" She asked.
"Oh come on Mara you weren't even paying attention."
"I was!"Kaya crossed her arms, "Fine what just happened?"
"She just failed her driver's test," Amara responded confidently.
"Well yeah, we've seen this like a hundred times!" Kaya exclaimed.
She turned her body so that she was now facing Amara, "Come on, tell me what's going on."
Amara chewed on her bottom lip, not exactly sure if she should tell Kaya the real reason her brain was preoccupied.
"Come on," Kaya sang, sensing her hesitation, "it's me."
"Well..." Amara began, "it's about the ball."Kaya nodded her head, "What about the ball?"
"Well remember I told you I talked to that guy.""You talked to a lot of guys that night," Kaya smirked.
Amara narrowed her eyes, "I mean the one before we took off our masks."
Kaya leaned back, "Ooooh him? What about him?"
"Well that's just it," Amara paused, her eyes gazing out in front of her, "I can't seem to stop thinking about him," her voice slowly faded out in the end as if her mouth wasn't in correlation with her brain and was also becoming lost in her thoughts of the mystery man.
Kaya snapped her fingers in front of Amara regaining her attention.
"Amara you don't even know what the guy looks like. How can you possibly be daydreaming about him?"
"That's what makes it even more appealing, it's the enigma behind him. It makes me have to recall all the details, the color of his eyes, his toothy grin. He was clever and witty, but not cocky," she turned up her nose, "I spoke to a lot of guys like that, that night. He was confident in himself or at least he seemed like it behind the mask," a smile spread out on her face as she continued to reminisce on their conversation."But what about Dreardon?"
Amara's smile faded, "What about him?" she asked.
"Well I mean after mystery guy left, you talked to him for about a half hour."
