The sun was beginning to set, casting a soft haze through Amara's windows. Kaya started to close the blinds.

"Hey! You're making it dark in here!" Amara exclaimed as she spun around in her vanity chair.

"No," Kaya responded, "there's no more sunlight left to use, so I'm just going to turn on the lights."

Amara sighed, "Some of us are trying to conserve energy here."

Kaya rolled her eyes and continued closing the blinds.

Amara swiveled around in her chair impatiently.

"Amara Delgado!" Amara looked at Kaya, "if you don't stop turning around in that chair," she huffed, "you're going to mess up my masterpiece."

Amara looked at her reflection in the mirror, "I don't know Kay, it doesn't really look anything like the picture."

Kaya walked up behind her and spun the chair in the opposite direction, so that Amara's back was to the mirror and she was in front of it, "That's because I'm just getting started."

Amara groaned, "Kay are you sure you know what you're doing, I mean when it comes to the designing of houses and apartments you have my complete trust, but I've never exactly seen you replicate hairstyles from the internet."

Kaya bent down so that she was eye level with Amara, "Do you want to do it?"

Amara shook her head.

"Alright, then I suggest you hush.

Amara was silent for the rest of the time in the chair.

*10 minutes later*

"Ok, just one more thing left to do and then I'm done."

Kaya reached for a bobby pin in Amara's drawer.

"Aagh finally," Amara squirmed in her chair, her butt was starting to become numb, "AGH!" she called out,

"Oops," Kaya tried to hide her smirk, "must have been a bobby pin."

Amara mumbled under her breath.

"So, are you ready for tonight?" Kaya asked as she stuck another bobby pin in Amara's hair, this time more carefully.

Amara bit her lip, "Honestly, I'm a little nervous, which is funny because I attend all sorts of events for my show. I don't know tonight just feels different."
"Maybe it's because you're the one fangirling this time."

Amara laughed, "Yeah maybe."

"Well don't worry I'll be fangirling right there with you!" Kaya sang. She stepped back from Amara's chair and swiveled her back around so that she came face to face with herself.

"Annnd voila!"

Amara placed her hand over her mouth, "Kaya this is...it's..."

Kaya nodded her head, "I know."

Amara's hair was pinned up on the crown of her head into a messy bun. A few tendrils fell around her face, emphasizing her sharp jawline. The bun was encased in two loose braids that were wrapped around each other and pinned at the base of the bun, It was simple but intricate, messy but fun.

Amara was speechless.

"Nooooww," Kaya walked in front of Amara, "makeup time!"

Amara laughed, "Yeah and that I am capable of doing myself."

Kaya huffed, "Suit yourself, I've got plenty to do over here," she waved her hand in front of her face.

The two girls laughed and talked about what they thought the ball would be like as they prepared their faces for the evening.
