"Amara," Amans repeated softly, trying to remember where he had heard the name from.
His eyes widened with realization.
"Oooooh, I know you!" He exclaimed.
Amara smiled and nodded her head in anticipation.
"Your Magdalena's new model for her line uh Chic N Classy."
Amara's smiled faded slightly, but she perked back up.
"Yeah," she laughed, "that's me. You and Magdalena are close right?"
Amans smiled, "Yeah she's like my one and only friend."
They both laughed.
Then silence.
"Uh I saw you at the MillHouse Competition last night, you were great!" Amara exclaimed.
Amans smiled modestly, "Oh yeah, it was my first time performing in front of an audience. It was quite a rush. But thank you for coming out and bringing your friend with you. I really appreciate the support!"
Amara smiled, "Of course, I'm glad I went."
More silence.
Amans looked around, "Uh so what are you doing here? I'm pretty sure I would have noticed a pretty girl like you wandering around."
Amara blushed, "Oh you know, I uh..."
Amans waited for her to answer as she stumbled over her words.
"I was just stopping by the Daily Dosage."
"You were stopping by Daily Dosage?" he repeated looking slightly disgusted, "Why did you want to stop by there?"
"For you," Amara replied softly.
Amans was genuinely confused. He was 99% sure he had never seen this woman before in his life. If not unknowingly on a billboard or show.
Yet here she stood before him, saying she stopped by the place he just quit to see, him.
Amans looked at her questioningly, "For me?" He asked.
"W-well yeah, I mean I didn't get a chance to speak to you after your show, and I just wanted to let you know how great you were."
Amans was still not convinced.
"So you drove all the way here to tell me that you liked my poem?"
Amara nodded.
"How did you know I worked here?" He continued.
She rolled her eyes, "Oh I met your lovely ex-coworkers last night, I believe their names were Beatriz and Oscar..."
Amans shuddered just hearing their names, "Ugh, yes thank God I don't have to deal with them anymore," he laughed, "you seemed just as annoyed with them as I am, what happened?"
"Oh well, they were just rude and obnoxious."
"Talking about me?"
She nodded.
"Yeah, that's not new."
"I'm sure it's not, but it really bugged me. They just seemed like real jerks. You can tell they've never really had a conversation with you otherwise they would know you're a nice guy."
Amans was quiet.
He had only met her moments before, how did she know he was a nice guy.
Amans watched her face changed as she registered what she said, "O-oh you know n-not saying, I m-mean we are talking--"
Amans laughed, "That's ok I understand."
She smiled and looked up at him.
He smiled and looked down at her.
More silence.
Amans's phone began to vibrate.
He reached in his pocket and glanced at it, pressing a button he silenced it.
"Got a call?" Amara asked.
"Oh no, it was just a reminder, I have somewhere I need to be right now."
Amans thought he saw Amara's eyes saddened, but he figured it was his imagination.
"Well..." he smiled, "it was nice to finally meet you, Amara, hopefully, we see each other again."
She smiled softly and glanced down at her watch, "Yeah, hopefully."
Amans nodded and turned to walk away.
"Man leaving just before twelve again," Amara laughed.
He froze.
Leaving before twelve?
And then, it hit him.
He turned around slowly and saw a playful grin on Amara's face.
"You're..."
She nodded.
"At the ball..."
Her smile grew.
Amans was speechless.
"But how did you know?" He asked.
She looked down, "I didn't, I just hoped that I would run into you again and then Magdalena invited me to the competition, and you said that line--"
Amans smacked his forehead, "Ah that's right I told you the line at the ball, what are the odds..." he trailed off.
"I just hoped I would see you again," Amara said softly.
Amans smiled sheepishly, "I did too, I couldn't stop thinking about you and our conversation."
"I know," she breathed looking into his eyes.
"It's really nice to finally meet you, Amara," he whispered.
"What happened to not letting the mystery die out," she smirked.
He smirked back, "Nothing is hidden that will be not be made known."
Amara smiled.
"All good things must come to an end."
