Luna: Shoot! I'm gonna be late. Where the heck is my phone?!
I was practically turning my room upside down. I couldn't find my phone anywhere, and as time ticked by, the gap between my arrival and the agreed time was getting bigger and bigger. I started pacing the the floor, trying to remember where I put it. I stopped in front of the mirror. Red converse, jeans, black tank top with a red and blue flannel. A classic outfit of mine. I tried to tame my messy mane of hair with a ponytail and for once it actually was working.
Luna: What was I doing? Phone! Of course always in plain sight.
In the mirror I could see on top of my dresser, out in the open, my phone. Once I picked it up, it starts to vibrate.
Luna: That's probably Sara
As predicted, a picture of a light skinned, smiling woman with hazel eyes and straight, blond hair up to her shoulders, freckles peppered on her cheeks and nose appeared on the screen. I answer.
Luna: Hello
Sara: Hey girl, where are you?
Luna: Leaving my house right now
Sara: Running a little late are we?
Luna: Maybe a tad
Sara: Well don't even bother finding your keys
Luna: Why?
Sara: Take a guess
Luna: Seriously
Sara: Well he knows you like the back of his hand, he left like five minutes ago so he should be there right about-
*The doorbell rings*
Sara: Was that the doorbell?
Luna: Sure was.
Sara: Well I guess we'll see you soon
Luna: Guess so. Bye.
Sara: See ya
With the call over, I walk to the door and look into the peephole. Slightly tanned man, royal blue eyes, messy brown hair trying to escape the bennie keeping it in somewhat check. I open the door.
Luna: Impeccable timing as usual.
Jackson: Oh thank goodness, I was starting to think you were still asleep, again
Luna: A girl sleeps through her alarms once and can never live it down. Besides, I've gotten better when it comes to being on time.
Jackson: Mhmm riiiight. Well come on, they probably already got our table with the drinks
I follow Jackson out the door to his car. He opens the passenger door for me and closes it once I'm inside. Then he makes his way around and inside the car himself.
Luna: Ya know, you didn't have to come and get me. I was on my way out the house when Sara called.
Jackson: I know, she texted me. But I doubt you had your keys sooo it would take you another seven minutes to find them. At least this way I know you'll make it there a little less late.
Luna: Seven minutes? Really? I'm offended
We laugh and Jackson pulls out of the driveway.
Luna: So is everyone else there?
Jackson: What do you think? Unlike you everyone made it to the cafe either on time or early
Luna: I'm guessing you and Hunter were there early
Jackson : As usual. You know Hunter can't stand being late and to him being there on time is considered late
Luna: Ya. Has he always been like that?
Jackson: From what I can remember, yes, but I think it was worst when we were kids
Luna: I think your right
We both laugh again. I turns up the music and looks over at Jackson. Jeans with his favorite blue hoodie and a beanie. I can't see his shoes, cause he driving but, I bet that he was wearing his black converse, at least the high top ones. Jackson glances over and catches me staring.
Jackson: Luna
Luna: Hm?
Jackson: Black converse, high top
Luna: I knew it!
Moments later, Jackson parks the car in front of Le Croissant Lune Cafe.
The group and I found this quaint cafe during the beginning of my high school freshman year. We all decided we needed a place to hang out and not long after finding the cosy cafe we became regulars. The owner, Mark, knows us all by name and has memorized our orders. He's even starting insisting on discounts even though we're all more than willing to pay the actual price.
We make our way out the car and into the cafe and bee line straight to our usual booth where, as expected, Hunter and Sara were sitting with their drinks.
Sara: Well look who decided to show up
Luna: Ya thanks for coming Sara
We both glare at each other and laugh as Jackson and I take our seats. Dark green eyes, Brushed light brown hair, and a little birthmark on his chin, Hunter, Jackson's older brother takes a sip from his coffee and waves to us. Then Mark greets us and brings Jackson and I our drinks. We thank him and he goes off to check on the other customers.
Jackson: Hunter how many sugars did you ask for?
Hunter: I don't know ask Sara she ordered everything
Sara: Two, I said three but Mark said that it was two so I took his word for it
Jackson: Well as usual Mark would be right, thanks though
Sara: Mmhmm
Hunter: So, was she asleep?
Luna: I'm seriously never going to live that down, am I?
Jackson: Actually no, but she was going to be even more late if I didn't get her.
Hunter: Well now the table feels complete, it's not the same when someone is missing.
Luna: Speaking of missing someone, where's your little brother Sara?
Sara: Elmwood? He's in the bathroom, should be coming back any minute now.
As if on cue a shorter male with grey eyes and blonde hair walks out of the bathroom and takes a seat next to Sara.
Elm: Sorry that took me a little longer than I thought, oh, hey Luna. Looks like Jackson really did go and get you. Did you fall asleep?
Luna: A girl does it once, no I didn't! Aaaanyway, now that we are all here , I can finally tell you about my trip
Sara: Trip?
Luna: Ya, this summer I decided I was gonna spend a bit more time on taking care of myself.
Hunter: Is that why you quit your job?
Sara elbowed him in the side and gave him a face that said "Shut. Up."
Luna: No Hunter, that is not why I quit my job. I quit my job because it was horrible and I hated it.
Jackson: Sooo this trip?
Luna: Right right, so I'm gonna go stay in my old family cabin for the summer
Jackson: You mean the one in the woods
Luna: Yes
A smile crept on my face cause the usual game of a thousand and one questions had started
Sara: Isn't that place hella old
Luna: Yes
Hunter: Are you sure it's safe?
Luna: Yes
Elm: Wait, Isn't that the one you got from your dad?
Silence. I looked down at my mug. Smile now faded. Everyone else glares at Elm.
