buzzz......buzZZZ......BUUZZZZZZ

Luna: hmmm? The hell?

I look around and notice that I'm in my bed and that horrible sound is my phone vibrating on the night table.

Luna: When did I go to bed? What time is it?

I grab my phone and see that it's-

Luna: 3:30? Already? How long was I out?

A message pops up on my home screen along with all the notifications of Jackson's calls.

Luna: Three miss calls and just one message? What the hell does he want?

I unlock my phone and look at the message.

Luna: "Open the door" Are you serious?!

I get out of bed, and open the front door to find Jackson holding a tupperware and with an apologetic smile on his face.

Jackson: Hi.

Luna: What are you doing here?

Jackson: I know you said you didn't want me to stay over and I wasn't going to but then Hunter made this-

Jackson hands me the container and open it.

Luna: Why would he make MY favorite pasta dish without my knowledge?

Jackson: Do you accept my peace offering? Can I come inside?

Luna: Fine. Only because you brought pasta.

I let Jackson in and close the door behind him. I go to the kitchen and start to warm up the pasta in the microwave along with a glass of water while Jackson takes a seat at the dining table.

Jackson: Ya know, your place doesn't look any cleaner and you look a little....drained.

Luna: I fell asleep.

Jackson: That would explain your attitude, aaaand your hair.

Luna: You want some now or later?

Jackson: Might as well eat now.

I grab two paper plates from the cabinet next to the microwave and put them on the counter.

Jackson: Why do you put a glass of water in the microwave again?

Luna: So the food doesn't dry out as much, I don't know I saw it in a Youtube video once, tried it and it worked out pretty well.

Jackson: Huh as long as my food is warm I can't complain.

The microwave goes off and I check the pasta, it's still a bit cold in the middle so I put it for another round.

Luna: Did Hunter already go to work?

Jackson: Early as usual

Luna: I know you also have work today

Jackson: Which I don't have to get ready for until 5

Luna: What do you do again?

Jackson: Security guard

Luna: Right......where exactly?

Jackson: One of those fancy shops in the mall, I can't even pronounce the name of it.

Luna: Do you even like your job?

The microwave goes off and I start to serve the food.

Jackson:Yes and no, it's complicated.

Luna: Whatever, here's your food.

I put a mountain of pasta in front of him. That kid has an appetite, I don't know how he eats so much, he doesn't seem to gain weight then again, being a security guard, I guess he has to stay fit.

Jackson: Thanks.

I take the seat across from him and start to dig in. It's delicious and just what I needed today.

Jackson: Ya know, I could always take the day off, one of the guys owes me a favor anyway.

I speak with my mouth full, like the lady I am.

Luna: Don't even tink abot it.

I finish the food in my mouth.

Jackson: But-

Luna: No! I already told you, it's just a normal day.

Jackson: But it's not.

Luna: Jackson-

Jackson: You can't just keep everything in.

Luna: Jackson-

Jackson: Stop being so stubborn-

Luna: Jackson!

Jackson: -And talk to me!

Luna: HE'S NOT DEAD!

Silence. I was standing from my chair looking at my plate, hands on the table

Jackson:........What?

I look at him, furious. He looks concerned but I don't care, how dare he bring this up after I told him not to! And then to question what I said like he didn't understand what I was talking about! Like I had gone absolutely insane and was talking gibberish!

Luna: DID I STUTTER?! HE'S NOT DEAD!

After another minute of frozen silence. I storm out the house into the backyard, I couldn't stand to look at him and I wasn't going to hear his excuses either! The last thing I heard was Jackson calling my name before I slid the back door shut and sat on the pavement, tears in my eyes, threatening to fall.
