I got up from the cot I was sleeping and decided to start walking around the opera house to get a sense of the place, I guess, I managed to find my way to the auditorium, to find it perfectly empty, and I decided to check out the boxes, since only Mother, Mia, and Mae got to sit in the boxes when we were watching operas. I went up the stairs to the boxes and picked a random one to sit in, but when I entered the box, there was an opera going on, huh? I could've sworn that the opera house was dead silent a minute ago, I went back out, the music of the opera still in the curtain, I looked and the label on the box read "boîte cinq". My eyes widen, oh no that's the phantoms box, I started to back away, when I was met with the cold grip of a lasso around my neck,"you insolent child, how dare you?" The figure said.
"I'm sorry" I tried to say but it came out in a whisper.
"You are nothing but a filthy rat and a monster," it whispered, each word cutting through me like a dagger,
"Stop, please stop," I pleaded, I clawed at the rope, which only made him pull on the lasso tighter, and everything blacked out.
I practically jumped out of bed, I grabbed my throat and made sure there were no lasso or marks on my neck. I sighed of relief when there wasn't anything, but the old marks, from my abuse. It was all a dream I thought to myself, I looked at the clock and realized it was 2:15 in the morning, knowing of my usual circumstances after having nightmares like that. I looked at the window, checked to see if anyone was awake, quietly opened the said window, and climbed onto the ledge of the window. And started climbing.
I'm actually thankful for the architect who designs this building, the wall design was elaborate, so it took only about 5 minutes for me to get up there, in the dark, since I was on the east side of the building, completely shrouded in darkness. Once I got to the top, the cold was starting to eat at my toes, so I put on some stockings that I packed and brought up with me, and an extra pair of flats.
I looked around, and noticed a few gargoyles, I climbed on the gargoyle in the corner facing the city, I climbed and sat on one of the wings, and looked out onto the city. Then I looked north of the city, to the forest surrounding many small ponds. I started to well up with tears, as I remembered 'the incident' and softly sang to myself a lullaby my aunt sang to me:
Hush now my baby,
Be still now don't cry,
Sleep as your rocked by the stream,
Sleep and remember, my last lullaby,
So I'll be with you when you dream. The tears I were holding back started to fall freely, I wouldn't hold back the sorrows of him, and how he was the one person who cared, deeply about me.
River, oh river
Flow gently for me
Such precious cargo you bear.
Do you know somewhere, he can be free?
River deliver him there. Then, I heard ever silent footsteps going behind one of the statues, I sat there, wondering if it would move. After waiting, I decided to get down and look around for any signs of who was up here. First I saw footprints headed towards one of the statues, I followed it to one of the statues, and whatever it was wouldn't come out of hiding.
"There is no use in hiding, I know your there," I heard it shift a little, but it still wouldn't come out. I held up my hands to show I wasn't armed, and that I wouldn't harm it, him, or her,
"it's alright, I won't hurt you," I said in my most calm and gentle voice. It was only then that the person came out of hiding, I backed away a bit for him to step out on to the roof.
