Chapter 2: The Opera Populaire
The next day
Raina's POV:

I woke up the next day and immediately got dressed and headed to the dining hall to prepare breakfast, to find it already prepared, I snuck out a bit extra since I wouldn't have food for a while. Then, everyone else came in, and ate breakfast.

"Raina, could you grab the bags and place them outside for the coachmen, " mother said. I immediately got up and grabbed everyone's bags, and met Nathaniel, the coachmen, and we loaded the carriage, I put my stuff in first, to make sure that they didn't know that I had two bags on me, then packed the others. After the others arrived, I said goodbye to Mae and sat in the carriage next to mother.

It took us over 1 hour to reach the coast by horse, then an additional 3 hours to get to France and 2 hours and 40 minutes to reach Paris by horse and carriage. When we reached Paris, I saw many beautiful buildings, until we saw the opera house. If I were to say that this was beautiful, it would be an understatement. The architecture was stunning, with many beautiful golden statues and the sign read Opera Populaire in chiseled stone, probably marble.

As the carriage pulled up, I saw three men stand outside, one standing in front was average size, with light brown hair and a large bushy mustache, the second was tall and pretty similar to the first one except for his hair is dark brown, and the last was the shortest with gray hair and a small mustache. The coach opened the door, we came out and the three men greeted us.

"Hello Monsieur Lefevre, I am Comtess Morgan Indra and this is my daughter Vicomtess Mia, " mother introduced, as always leaving me out.

"Hello Comtess Indra, these are the new managers of this opera house, Monsieur Richard Firmin, and Monsieur Gilles Andre, " Monsieur Lefevre introduced.

"And who might this be by any chance?" Monsieur Andre asked, acknowledging me.

"My name is Raina Indra, " I said and curtsied.

Monsieur Lefevre acknowledged us to follow him into the opera house, showing us everything backstage. Then we walked back to the grand foyer and stood on the landing of the grand staircase.

"I shall introduce Andre and Firmin to the cast and crew in 10 minutes, Madame Giry will show you to your rooms, " Lefevre said. Madame Giry walked up and escorted Mia and Mother to the Prima Donna bedroom, while I was to sleep in the ballet dormitories. Madame Giry showed me the bed that I would be staying in.

"I will come to send for you when Monsieur Lefevre will introduce you to the cast and crew, " Madame Giry curtsied and left.

I sat down on the cot and took in my surroundings, it was better than my living conditions in England, but it wasn't the best, the room was large so it could fit all the ballet dancers, there was a selection of windows on the wall. I sighed, opened my bag, pulled out my journal, and started writing music.

I don't know how I learned to write music since I didn't even take lessons, but there are melodies in my mind, anxiously waiting to be heard. I sit there for a few minutes until Madame Giry comes in.

"They are ready for you," she said. I stood up and followed her.

I came backstage to where the ballet dancers were at and sat down on a few crates. The set was for some sort of Indian palace, or somewhere close to one. Must be a production of Hannibal by Chalumeau and this is the opening scene of Act I.
