"Where did you go?" Uda asks as I walk back into the camp, she only stopped sharpening her knifes for a brief moment.
"To see a friend apparently," she looks at me with a raised eyebrow, asking for more, "why don't you go back to bed. I'm wide awake and don't need the sleep." She nods, takes her things and crawls into her tent.
My brain seemed to go into autopilot, it controlled my body's and made sure to stay alert to any possible threats. Yet at the same time thoughts ran through my head making it hard to think of keeping an eye out for thieves.
Chi has become stronger and faster. I never knew she was able to turn into a wolf, guess she learned it not that long ago. Maybe there's a jutsu that could change me into an animal, with all there speed, something a bit more powerful and harder to disperse.
If my dad's family is some sort of animal transforming spirits, maybe I'll be able to learn to transform like Chi. Ooo then we could be animal buddies.
Soon enough my outdo pilot was turned off as the sun came up and the other started to wake up. The only one who seemed fully rested and awake was the old woman.
"Morning kids! I assume it's time to go again." I hear her as I seal my tent and things back into a scroll, before shoving it into my backpack. Once done I waited for the others to finish packing, checking on the horses again and making sure things were on correctly.
The whole ride there was relatively quiet, the only sound was the horses walking and the old lady, who I hadn't bothered to remember her name, who hummed to herself.
"Thank you for bringing my wife home safely." Her husband thanked us, "she goes to visit our daughter and I worry she could get hurt going between the villages alone."
She laughs, "and that's why I decided to rest your worries, get these kids some money and get me more sleep." She leans on her husband. They payed Rei and made us eat dinner and stay the night at their small log house, which was hidden in a circle of snow covered trees. I decided to sleep, having nothing else to do.
For the first time in many weeks I had a dream. Trees, tons and tons of trees. A pair of bright green eyes glittering in the dark, looking at me. A voice echoing through the dark. I couldn't remember what the voice said, it seemed to to echo in my head without words.
I had woken at day light, the same as always, and went outside onto the roof.
I sat in the snow, drenching my pants, as the sun shone through. And I sat there for a few hours until the others came out, wondering where I was.
"Ready to go?" Rei asks me as I look down from the roof.
I nod, "yeah, just let me grab my bag." I climb back into window and grab my bag.
By the time we got home the others were tired, just about ready to pass out. Fin greeted Rei and I at the front door, waiting to hear about how the mission went.
"I'm going to bed." I say as Rei talked to Fin. I slip into the kitchen, grabbing a few sweets, that Toto had hidden in a drawer for me, before heading up to my room. I sit on my bed, opening a chocolate sweet and began eating it while reading a new book I got on the way home.
