5. Fangs and Claws

   I tossed a few things into my bag when Evalyse walked into my room, “So you wanna know the truth?”

                I nodded my head back at her.

                She shook her head back at me, “Have fun in Vancouver!”

                “Wait, you can't do that to me!”

                “Have a fun day sweetheart!”

                I rolled my eyes as I grabbed my things and went down the steps when I saw her standing in the kitchen.

                I stopped when she glanced up from the island and caught my eyes.

                “What are you doing here?”

                She licked her lips as she tossed the beer into the trash.

                “I'm serious, talk to me right now!”

                She put her hands up, “Don’t yell at me Cali.”

                I kept my eyes on her, “You shouldn’t be here.”

                She grinned back at me, “I am just here to see our mother.”

                “No, you being here will draw them here. Do you understand what that means for Mom and me? We don’t need their attention.”

                She laughed back at me, “You can yell all you want but I just wanted to see something.”

                “Get the fuck away from our family.”

                “Oh wow, Cali using big girl words now.”

                I felt my teeth come through as she kept smiling at me.

                My top lip curled back and I was looking back at the only person in the world that knew as much as I did and understand me more than anything: my sister.

                “Someone is a little touchy.”

                “You come back after 15 years and you think I want you back? You killed 3 people and you are wanted by the League!”

                “Oh please those old idiots can't tell right from left.”

                “No, the League is full of new people they were voted in last year. They are young and smart and very powerful. Most of them are immortal meaning they will hold their positions for the rest of their lives.”

                “Wow Cali, you are really freaking out about this.”

                “You would too if your head was on the chopping block.”

                My sister laughed back at me, “My head is always there. I became what we are and you all fear me.”

                “No, you became a monster and you won't take responsibility for what you have done.”

                She laughed back at me, “God created me and he created humans for a reason. So think about that for a second.”

                “He also created other red blooded animals for us. Why don’t you think about that?”
