Chapter Eighteen: Home
"Lets get this place cleaned up," I say, getting up from the couch.
I have never felt so close to Finn as I do now. Sure, we've been pretty close lately, but now I know him on such a deeper level.
After the quick kisses Finn and I shared, we just sat on the couch. I lied his his arms and rested my head on his chest, and god did that feel good. The two of us almost fell asleep, and we certainly would've if my mother didn't text me to tell me that she'd be working late again.
"Okay," he says, his face still a deep shade of red. My face is still heated up too; after all that happened moments ago, we have a good excuse.
"So I'm thinking, if you want, after we clean the mess that the boys made, we could maybe do a deeper clean throughout the house? If you want, you'd probably feel like a weight has been lifted off of your shoulders," I suggest, picking up empty cans off of the floor.
"Sure, then could we have a garage sale or something?" He responds, a small smile plastered on his face.
"Finn, that's genius! Then you can make a couple of extra bucks!" I exclaim, excited for the boy.
"I'd share with you too you know," he giggles, organizing pillows on the couch.
"Oh come on Finn, we're doing this for you. All I'm going to do is help you out," I respond firmly. "All proceeds go to you. But promise me you'll at least put it towards something good."
Finn nods as I take the bottles and cans and find a trash bag.
"I think I'll put it towards college or music lessons or something," he says, sounding deep in thought.
"Really? That's awesome!"
A huge smile spreads across my face. That's amazing, and I'm so proud of him.
"Yeah, I guess. Whatever."
"What do you want to go to college for?" I ask.
"I'm not sure yet. But hey, most people can get a good future from going to college so I guess that's a start."
"Yes! It really is. I'm so proud of you, Finn. This is a huge step for you!" I exclaim. His face turns red as he beams at me.
"You'd be the first."
I open my mouth to say something, but nothing comes out. The poor boy, I cant help but feel for him. He has been through so much, yet I'm incredibly proud of him for trying his best right now.
"And I didn't know you had an interest in music!" I exclaim. "What do you want to play?"
"Well, I have a guitar. I suck at it though, so it'd be neat to actually learn to play I guess," he shrugs.
"That's cool! I'm sure you will be a pro-guitarist."
"I don't know about that, Dani," he chuckles.
"Anyways, when do you want to have a garage sale?" I ask, changing the subject.
"Maybe this weekend or something? That way we can clear out the house and then get rid of it all quickly," he suggests.
"That'd be perfect! Saturday?"
"Sounds good to me."
"Great! Where do you want to start? What can I do?"
"Well, um, maybe I'll start going through this closet. Do you think you could just keep cleaning up around the house so that we'll start out with a clean space?" He asks.
