The camp that you have arrived in isn't what you thought. When Warren had first announced that you were staying there for the next few days, you were shocked. A broken down campsite in the middle of nowhere with disgusting tents and a lot of people?
No thanks.
Sorry, but even in the apocalypse a campsite doesn't appeal to you. Especially the people part. Out in the open with zombies is bad enough but when you add humans, it's worse. People were loud, scary and had a tendency to stab you in the back, or turn into zombies.
But when you had pulled up in the driveway and looked at the iron gate placed in front, your mind began to change. And when you stepped inside and saw lush green grass, flowers and wooden cabins, you smiled.
'Wow.'
'This is incredible,' 10k added, smiling at you.
You have a huge crush on him and hope that his feelings are mutual. You are quite close - you know all about his past and the tragedy that occurred. However you still get shy around him and prefer Addy's company because 10k makes you feel self-conscious.
A girl with long black hair and ice blue eyes steps in front of him, smiling. She was tall and skinny; the perfect body shape. A shirt that showed her navel was bubblegum pink and her shorts were exactly that - short. She looks 10k up and down, making him blush.
'Hello and welcome to our campsite! I will show you to your assigned bunks. Two people have to share one, so buddy up!'
Mack and Addy immediately link arms, Murphy reluctantly stands next to Doc and Warren approaches Vasquez. That leaves you and 10k. He grins at you.
'I guess we're sharing. If you're okay with that,' 10k says.
Your cheeks heat up.
'Of course. That's not so bad, right?' You joke.
He smiles at you.
'It really isn't.'
The girl that had greeted you walks toward you two, looking at 10k. She takes his hand in hers.
'Let me take you to your cabin, handsome. Of course, you and your buddy will share, but I wish that you could share with me.'
You roll your eyes as 10k looks at their intertwined hands in confusion and shock. She begins to pull him with her and you follow the pair reluctantly. The girl stops at one on the end and opens the door, smiling at 10k.
'This is it. If you need anything, come to me. See you around, cutie pie,' She blows a kiss at 10k.
She leaves and you frown. 10k notices this and grows concerned, beginning to question you.
'Is everything okay, Y/N? Are you not alright with sharing with me, because I can swap with Doc.'
You shake your head firmly, frustrated at the girl's actions and how 10k allowed them to happen.
'Everything... is absolutely fine. I'm fine. I think I might go for a walk. See you later.'
You smile and try to play it cool, tucking a knife in your pocket just in case. On the inside, you feel like crying. A part of you knew that he didn't like you back, but actually seeing it happen hurts you deeply.
The sun begins to set, so you make your way to the large field in the center of the campground, toward the campfire. A few of the campers are sat around it, holding cups filled with alcohol. Many of them are crowded around the table that is serving the drinks.
You sit on one of the thick logs around the fire, feeling the warmth of the flames cover you in a warm hug.
