Chapter 4: Finally Awake

Over the past week, me and Beth have really bonded and become great friends. I knew we would from the beginning. "Liz!" Beth called from upstairs. "Come up here!" She yelled. "Coming!" I ran up the stairs. "Since we've become friends, I've totally forgot to ask! Do you like Carl?" She asked. My cheeks turned a slight red. Okay, so I guess I did like Carl a little, but could I tell Beth? That's a stupid question, of course I can. "Well, maybe.." I trailed off. I glanced over to her and saw her,

Giving me "the look". "Okay! Fine yes I do, but you can't tell anyone!" I made her promise. "OH MY GOD I KNEW IT!" Maggie barged in squealing. "Shh! Keep your voice down! He might hear you!" I scolded her. Sometimes, I feel I'm more mature than Maggie but thats why I love her like a sister. "Oh yeah, I'm sure he can hear us in A COMA!" She rolled her eyes sarcastically. "Alright, alright but someone like Rick, Daryl or Glenn. "WAIT! Maggie you can't tell Glenn!" I told her. "What? Why would I tell him?" She played stupid. Me and Beth both looked at each other giving "the look". "What?" She sighed. "Fine, I like him a little bit." She admitted. "Eekkkk!" Beth squealed, while I just had the biggest smile because Glenn obviously can't keep his hands off her. "Alright what happens in this room, stays in this room" I said and Maggie agreed instantly and Beth hesitated but we got her to agree. Eventually.

"GUYS COME DOWN HERE CARLS AWAKE, oh and Carl wants to see you Liz" Daryl smirked. I rolled my eyes and walked downstairs pushing Daryl out of the way.

"Hey Carl" I smiled sitting in the chair next to his bed. "Hey Eliza" That was Carl's special nickname for me, he was the only one who calls me that. "How you feeling?" I asked. I looked around and noticed no one was around. "I'm great now that you're here" He smiled, while I blushed a dark red so I looked down so he wouldn't see me blush. "Hey, don't look down you're cute when you blush" He winked. I punched his arm playfully. Our faces were inches apart, I so badly wanted to lean in and kiss him, but that's not happening.

"Hey Car-" Glenn stopped himself and backed out of the room, noticed we were just looking at each other. We both chuckled and glanced over where Glenn was standing seconds ago. When I turned around my lips smashed right into Carl's. Unfortunately, the kiss only lasted about a second because we heard Lori coming in. "Hey kids" Lori said smiling. "Lori, you're always so happy, even when the worlds ending you're so happy, why?" I asked. "Well, I have my family and thats all I could ask for, and they're healt-" She stopped herself from saying 'healthy' considering Carl got shot and was right there. "It's okay mom" He smiled at her. "I know baby boy, how are you?" She cane over kissing his forehead. "Mom" He whined, the way he said it made me and Lori crack up laughing. "Nice hat" She complemented Carl. I looked over noticing Rick's sheriff hat on Carl's head. "Dad gave it to me for being in the "got shot" club" He smiled, then it faded away. "I mean the "got the same eyes" club" He forced a fake laugh. "Well, I wish there was no "got shot" club in the first place" She sighed, getting up disappearing out of the room. "Lets pretend that didn't happen, deal?" I looked at him seriously. "What didn't happen?" He puzzled. I glared at him walking away, running up to Beth's room.

I opened the door and closed it sliding down the door slowly. "EEK!" I did a little happy dance. "What happened?" She emerged out of the bathroom. "Carl and I.. kissed but it was just for a second so don't freak out!" I rushed out of my mouth. "AHHHHH! OH MY GOD!" Of course, she freaked out just like I told her not too. Daryl ran in with with a lamp that he pulled out of the wall. "Everything alright?" He worriedly looked around the room. "Everything's alright Liz-" I cut Beth off "Liz just kicked Beth because she stubbed her toe so she naturally put her leg out and kicked Beth, so she screamed" I nervously laughed. Daryl raised his eyebrow but nodded and shut the door on his way out.

"Beth!" I scolded her. "I told you not to say anything, besides it was just an accident so please don't make a big deal out of it" I pleaded her. "Fine, you guys are so cute together but fine! I just won't help my best friend out with romance!" She dramatically threw herself onto her bed. I rolled my eyes and pushed her off the bed, walking out of the room.

"Hey Rick!" I smiled as I walked by him. "Hi Liz" He replied. "CARL GET BEHIND ME NOW!" I heard Lori yell from downstairs, along with multiple moans and groans. Without thinking I ran downstairs grabbing my pocket knife out of my charcoal black combat boots. I felt terror throughout my body. There was at least 20 walkers in the house. "LIZ! BE CAREFUL" Glenn screeched pointing behind me as a walker fell down towards me. How'd he even get up there? I took my knife and repeatedly stabbed his head. "What's going on down there?" Beth emerged from her room walking near the staircase. "Beth I made the mistake of coming down here, stay there trust me!" I ordered her. She nodded and ran back to her room. "Eliza watch out!" Carl said grabbing me and pulling me down, out of the way. I looked up at him and smiled. "Thanks " I told him getting up. "Uh, no problem" He tipped his sheriff hat towards me. "Carl you need to stay in bed, Hershel's orders" Lori demanded Carl back to the cot, which he eventually did. Where was Hershel?

"Hershel!" I shouted desperately trying to find him. I loved Hershel, I just met him and all these people but I can tell that we all get along great. We're already like a family. "I'm upstairs with Beth" He replied back to me, I felt I didn't need to reply to him so I nodded to myself and continued killing walkers. After we finished we all got together in the dining to talk. "You know squirt, for a little thing you sure know how to shoot and kill" Daryl chuckled at me. I guess Daryl's new nickname for me is "squirt", whatever. "We're missing someone" Maggie glanced around the room. To my shock, we were missing 3 people.
