After they rushed Peter into surgery, Bucky stood in the middle of the waiting room, just watching the doors to see when Peter's doctor would walk out.
"Bucky." Steve whispered. "C'mon. You gotta get checked out."
"I'm fine." He grit out.
"You tried to pry open the doors with both hands. You may be a super soldier but Tony built everything super strong. Your hand needs to get checked up. At least your flesh hand."
"I'm fine." He repeated.
"Please. I don't want you to get hurt because of—"
"Because of Peter?" Bucky finally looked at him. "It's not his fault. It's that bitches fault." He growled softly, anger flashing through his eyes. "I'm gonna kill her."
"James." Steve said strongly. "I get you've killed people before. But don't."
"She hurt my brother. She's gonna pay." He growled.
Steve turned to look at Tony. Tony walked over and injected something into Bucky's neck.
Bucky lost consciousness. Steve dragged Bucky to a consult room in the ER and they checked his hands.
By the time Bucky woke up, Peter's surgery was almost done. He was in the waiting room. Loki was on his right and Steve on his left. He noticed that they were both holding his hands. The more he looked around, the more Avengers he saw.
A doctor finally walked out. "Peter Parker?" She called out. All the Avengers stood up. "Oh."
Tony, Bucky, Steve and Loki walked over to her.
"I'm his dad."
"I'm his brother."
"I'm his other brother."
"I'm his step-dad...?"
"Okay, well. He lost a lot of blood and he was burned severely. He has 3 broken ribs and some lung damage was caused due to the smoke he inhaled. There was bruising due to the impact of the explosion when he fell. There were some brain injuries but we can't treat those until his heart is strong enough to have the surgery." She explained. "But, he still hasn't woken up yet. There's only a 12% chance he'll make it through the night in his condition. Even if he does make it through the night, there's only a slight chance he'll wake up."
Bucky gripped onto Loki's hand and bit his bottom lip.
"Is there anything else you can do? Maybe anything to wake him up?" Tony asked.
"Not that we know of. Our head of neurosurgery is consulting with other neurosurgeons about anything we can do to help your son."
"Can you let us see him?" Steve asked, knowing that's what Peter would want. His family.
"Sure. Right this way." She started leading the group to Peter's room.
As soon as they got there, the doctor left.
Bucky walked over to Peter and sat down, taking Peter's non-bandaged hand in his flesh hand.
He made it through the night. Bucky was with him at all times. He barely ate, except for times when Steve or Loki fed him a granola or something. His hair was getting longer, he hadn't cut it in a while and it was making him annoyed. He asked Natasha if she could cut it for him. She cut it to where it was short like before he 'died'. It made Steve happy to see Bucky like that with his hair short again. Days and night passed. Peter still hadn't woken up. Loki tried getting Bucky to go sleep on an actual bed but he wouldn't leave his brother, even if Loki said he would stay with him.
Peter kept getting better. Bucky kept getting worse. He was pale, skinnier than usual and he wasn't talking to anyone besides Steve, Loki, Natasha and Peter. He would tell him what had happened in the day right before he went to sleep in the uncomfortable chair by Peter's bed. At one point, they had to rush Peter back into surgery because of his heart. But that made his heart stronger so they operated on his brain. He seemed pretty normal, all things considered. Tony was working on tracking who attacked him but he couldn't find the woman.
It was two weeks later when Bucky finally broke. He started crying by Peter's bedside. He didn't even care that Steve and Tony were arguing with the head of neurosurgery.
Steve noticed something. He smiled sadly and walked over to Peter.
"Hey." He spoke quietly. "Welcome back, Peter."
Bucky looked up. His eyes widened. "Oh my god. Peter!" He smiled for the first time in two weeks.
"C—St—Wha—Whe—" His voice kept cracking because of his lack of water.
Bucky caught on and grabbed the cup of water by his bedside. He handed it to Peter, who took it and drank it greedily.
"Thanks... But... When'd you get find us?"
That caught everyone's attention.
"What're you talking about?" Tony asked, walking up to his bed.
"I was ki—Wait... where's my journal?"
"What journal?"
"The one I write everything in! Where I've been keeping track of the days!"
"Hey, hey, hey." Bucky tried. "The little black journal that you hide in your suit?"
"Yeah!" He turned to Bucky. "Wait, when'd you cut your hair?"
"A couple days ago. But what day do you think it is?"
"Last I remember, I wrote day 168. When I overheard someone was gonna... cut... my arm... off." He noticed the metal arm on his right side. "Bucky! You said they wouldn't cut it off!"
"Peter, that happened like 3, almost 4 months ago. It's almost February." Bucky looked at him.
"Oh my god. You're joking, right? They made you come in my cell and tell me that, right? And I bet Steve and Tony aren't even real." He started laughing.
Bucky sighed and pulled out the black journal. "Look." He showed Peter and flipped through all the pages.
"You wrote all those in?"
"No, Peter. You did. As every day went by. Ask them something only Steve or Tony would know."
Peter thought for a minute. "Who's my favorite uncle?"
"Loki." They said in unison.
"It's obvious. You spend basically the same amount of time with him as you do with Bucky." Tony said.
"What was the first thing I did when I arrived at the Avengers Tower?"
"Run around like a kid. You were skipping around, flying around using your webs. Everything. Pretty sure Clint thought you were a mini him." Steve answered.
"What do I love more than anything?"
"Besides, Bucky and Loki? Uh, the rest of your family and friends." Tony nodded.
Peter turned to Bucky. "So, I lost my memories from the last 4 months?" He teared up.
"Tony, call him." Steve whisper yelled.
"But, it's gonna be awkward." He whisper yelled back.
"I don't care. He's a neurosurgeon and your son is more important than your drama!"
"Fine!"
Tony pulled out his phone and went to contacts. He went to the 'S' section and clicked on a name.
It started ringing.
"Hello?" A voice asked from the other side.
"Hey, Stephen. It's me. I need your help."
