Chapter one
I wake up to a gray morning sky,it reminds me that it is reaping day.I walk out of my bed shivering.its my first reaping day.i walk to the meadow.the one next to the dark,cold,woods.i lay under a old oak,the one my sister and me would eat lunch and laugh under.the wind blows and brings pink petals from the wild flowers me and my sister would dance in.my sister,Katniss,went into the woods with her best friend,Gale,one day and they never came back.once a week I go to the meadow to see if they will return.my mom says that they have been gone for a year.and that they aren't coming back,but I don't believe her.Katniss would never do that to me.i walk back to our little house to get ready.
