Taken by the woods -a Prim POV

Chapter 19

I wake up to the early sunlight filling the sky with soft pinks,and oranges.I breath in the fresh scent of wheat and clean air.being form the Seam,all I ever smell is coal.I get up and walk to a near by stream.the cool water feels good to the cut on my wrist.after washing it out I put some more jasmine petals on it,which make it instantly feel better.Thresh is the next to wake up,he stares at something I can't see.he must be thinking.i haven't tried to think the whole time.the thoughts are too hard to bare.my stomach growls and reminds me that Rue and Thresh probably are hungry too so I get up and say,"I'm gonna go hunt,can you stay here with Rue?".he looks up at me,"sure but avoid the lake,the careers hang around there"."oh ok" I say and start walking.after awhile I come to the lake.i didn't mean to come here but I guess I got a little lost.i hide behind a nearby tree.just as I'm about to make a run for the forest,the Careers come back shouting."Did you see her face?!she was like please don't kill me,I'll do anything" says Cato.they all laugh.i think there sick for having fun killing kids,but I guess that's what careers do.then something I didn't expect happens.Peeta is with them.but why?he isn't a career or a fighter...that I know of.i can't stop staring at him in confusion and anger.when he sees me,he looks away to the careers and says,"I'm gonna go pick some berries" then walks in my direction.as he approaches I start walking backwards."it's fine, Prim I'm not gonna hurt you." he says in a quite voice."Why are you with the Careers?" I say in a hushed voice."because I knew with them I wouldn't end up starving or getting killed by a animal or something.plus I didn't find you or the 11's".that seems like a good idea if i where in his place so I don't yell at him or anything."we are camped in the wheat field.i left to hunt.do you want to go with me back to the camp?".he looks at me with a sad face,"no I can't go.i will just bring the careers after me.i don't want to hurt any of you"."how about if I meet you tonight at midnight and then you can sneak away when there all asleep?" I ask."ok.that sounds a bit better.now I gotta get back to them." he says then turns away."Peeta!Peeta!" I say in a loud whisper.he turns around and looks back at me,"what?"."Here is some berries to bring back to the careers" I throw him the little sack of berries Rue had picked yesterday."thanks" he says with a smile and runs back to the Careers.while the Careers aren't looking,I make it over to the woods.i have done some hunting before,because me and my mom need food,but I have never been so afraid.even though it's mid day,the fact tributes and animals could be hunting me send a shiver down my back.i mange to kill a rabbit and one small squirrel and head back to Rue and Thresh.I avoid the lake by taking the outskirts of the arena.as I walk I sing a little song that Katniss and my dad would sing when I was little.

"Are you,Are you coming to the tree.

Strange things did happen here no stranger would it be

If we meet at midnight in the hanging tree" as I finish the mockingjays sing it back to me.i walk and finish the rest of the song.
