12 hours until Dinah dies

"Hey Y/N I gotta say thank you so much for helping me through my mind journey", I said. Y/N stood in her place without looking at me. "Dinah, you need to get out of here right now", Y/N said. "Why? What's going on?", I asked. "Your brain activity has been strong but not strong enough to wake you up, I fear they're going to pull the plug on you, soon", Y/N said. "Oh my gosh, well what do I do? I've learned a lot here, I've come to terms with my mistakes, I've learned that it's never too late to change your life for the better, and even the smallest things can have huge consequences", I said. "That's good, but if you are at peace why haven't you woken up yet?", Y/N asked. "The only reason I can think of is that some part of you does not want to wake up", Y/N said. "I don't know, maybe, I kind of want to stay here, I've been having so much fun learning and being with you, mind Y/N is very wise", I said. "Dinah, we did not come all this way for you to die!", Y/N said. "Come on snap out of it! If you want to live, you better choose right now, die and live in eternal spiritual life, or live and be here to fulfill your dreams and live life physically", Y/N said. "The choice is yours, and from this point on the journey is yours to", Y/N said. "Wait, you're leaving me?", I asked. "Yeah, don't worry, here's what you need to know, there's a vortex in the San Jose arena where you had your high school championship, get there before it closes or your gone forever", Y/N said. "Oh no, I don't think I can do this", I said. "Relax, you'll be fine, I believe in you Dinah, good luck!", Y/N said then faded away. "Well, I guess it's all up to me now", I said. "You didn't think you were going to leave so easily, did you?", My eyes went wide at the sound of the voice. "Heather", I gasped. "Ugghh, why are you always here to make my life miserable", I said. "Technically, you make your own life miserable", I gasped. "Are you kidding me? What are you suppose to be? The evil version of me", I said. "I am you, alcoholic, heartbreaker, drag racer, ambition less", other me said. "All right I see what's going on here, shut up", I said. "Shut up", Heather mimicked me. The other me started to walk around me, you know I'm just going to call her Dinah 2. "You'll never get out of here", Dinah 2 said. "Yeah, and even if you did, your life would be in shambles", Heather said. "That's not true, I'm better now, I'm going to pick my grades up, stop slacking on my training, and I'm going to put you in your damn place Heather", I said. "You got in the way of me and my girlfriend, for that you and I are no longer friends", I said. "And to the other me, you are not me, I'm ambitious, smart, athletic, healthy, kind, I'm Dinah freaking Jane Hansen, and if you two assholes think you're going to stop me from living then you got another thing coming!", I yelled. I turned around and began running to the arena. "I'm coming for you Y/N", I said.

"Wake up Y/N, we have to be at the hospital when they you know", Ally said. "I don't want to be there when they kill her", I said. "They're not killing her if she's already dead", Ally said. "No, she still has brain activity, her heart is still beating, she's breathing", I said. "Because of that machine mija, I'm so sorry Y/N/N, but Dinah is gone", Ally said. "No Ally please don't say that", I sobbed. "Y/N, I don't know what else to say except you need to get up, get dressed, and prepare to see Dinah be set free", Ally said. "She's going to a better place, and for the record you are not the only one hurting, she was my girlfriend too", Ally croaked. "I'm sorry Ally, I know, this affects all of us, I just can't believe this is really it", I said. "I know, she's really leaving us", Ally sighed. "Yeah", I said as my lip quivered. "Go get dressed honey, the girls and I will be waiting for you downstairs", Ally said. "Okay", I said. I went to my suitcase and pulled out a black dress with spaghetti straps and black shiny flats. I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and shower but doing those things felt like a challenge rather than a daily task. I put on my black dress and my shoes then took my purse and made my way downstairs to the rest of the girls. They were wearing black too. "You look nice", Lauren whispered to me. "Thanks you too", I said. "Laur, in honor of Dinah, please refrain from trying to hit it", Normani said looking at me then Lauren. "Oh my god, shut up", Lauren said. I chuckled. "Why do I feel like we're in a scene from Pretty Little Liars?", Lauren said. "Yeah, I feel like we're heading to Ally's funeral", I said. "Mhm", Normani said. "Hey uhm, do you guys want to go to Waffle House?", Camila asked. "I don't care", I said. "Okay, what about you two?", Camila asked Lauren and Normani. "What she said", they pointed to me. "Alright Waffle House it is", Camila said. "Do you guys feel really weird?", I asked. "Yeah, I don't know, I feel dirty", Normani said. "I feel morbid, like we know what's happening but we can't stop it, it's driving me insane", Lauren said. "At least we can drown our sorrows in breakfast food at 6am in Waffle House", Normani said. "Yeah, I think I'm going to drink the syrup bottle", I said. Normani and Lauren chuckled. "You know, I can't imagine how bad the rest of the girls feel, they knew Dinah more than us", Normani said. "Well Lauren and I", Normani said. "Yeah", Lauren said. "It still hurts though", Normani said. "Yeah", I said. We piled into the car and Lauren got into the driver's seat while I rode shotgun. "Do you guys want to go paint balling?", Zendaya asked. "That's a random question", Kehlani said. "Well I need to hit something", Zendaya grumbled. "I'm down", Normani said. "We have time before we have to you know", Camila said. "Kill Dinah, yeah it's okay to say it", I said. "Don't put it like that, we're not killing her Y/N", Ally said. "Sure feels that way", I said. "Can we please talk about something else?", Zendaya asked. "Yeah, anything but this", Camila said. "But it's happening", Kehlani said. "That doesn't mean we have to think of it every second of the day", Zendaya snapped. "It's driving me crazy, just shut up Dinah for a minute, okay, you guys sound so damn morbid, I feel like killing myself", Zendaya said. "Well gahdamn", Normani said. "Okay then", Normani chuckled. "How was that funny?", Zendaya asked. "Girl, I have never heard you snap like that, I mean you really shouldn't think that way, cause I love you so much but that was kinda funny", Normani smiled. "It was pretty funny", I said. Zendaya grinned. "I'm serious though", she said. "We know, let's talk about something light", Lauren said. "I wish we were in New York, I would kill for some classic New Yorker pizza right now", Camila said. "Ah yes, I miss our apartment", Normani sighed. "I miss Coney Island", Camila frowned. "Guys, we would've been at Coney Island by now", Camila pouted. "Yeah, maybe next time", Kehlani said. "I got an internship at Vogue", Normani said. "Girl, shut up!!", I squealed. "She was visiting in New York and my friend and I were in Central Park working on a piece for our midterm when Taylor heard us playing and singing and then we had a full conversation with her and that was that", Camila said. "And yet I've never met Beyoncé", Normani jokes. Camila laughed. "Honestly, it was a pure surprise, I was so shocked because first of all you all know how much I love her!!", Camila said. We pulled into the Waffle House parking lot and got out of the car then walked inside. A waitress came to our table then took our orders. "So Normani, Vogue huh?", Kehlani said. "Yeah, I honestly can't wait", Normani said. "I met this girl Yara when I was first applying, I really hope she got in because she is phenomenal", Normani said. "That's great Mani", I said. "I guess life isn't all bad", Zendaya said. "Yeah", Lauren sighed. At that moment all our phones beeped or buzzed. "It's Dinah's mom", Ally sighed. "Yeah, I got the same text", Normani said. "Well I plan to get blackout drunk tonight", Lauren said. "Lauren, you're not even 21 yet", Ally said. "But Camila is", Lauren said. "I'm not using my I.D. so that you can get drunk", Camila said. "Well how about just five drinks", Lauren said. "We're not discussing this", Camila said. "Camz", Lauren whined. "You are not getting wasted Lauren", I said. "Oh come on! I'm not going to get wasted over five drinks", Lauren complained. Our food came and everyone sat at the table not being able to digest anything. "I feel disgusting for eating, I don't know it doesn't feel right when we know what's about to happen", Camila said. "I know", Zendaya said with a mouthful of waffles. I laughed. "What? I'm stress eating", Zendaya said. Camila started eating too and the rest of us as well. My phone started to ring while we were eating, but I didn't know the number so I didn't pick it up. "So any success on the west coast?", Camila asked. "Well as you all know I attend Cal Arts, and I'm currently working on getting an internship at Marvel Studios", Kehlani said. "But I did create an animated short film with my friend and it was admitted into the Sun Dance festival", Kehlani said. "Oh I want to work at LPA inc. in Irvine, California after I graduate so I'm focusing on getting in there", Lauren said. "So Z, wassup with you?", Camila asked. "Well I've been working with the NBCSL to gain volunteering experience, I'm getting my teachers license in order to teach about human rights and political science, and after graduation I'll be working at a human rights organization", Zendaya said. "Wow Zendaya for president", Camila said. "You are an actual Queen. Bless", Ally said. "Colombia University is lucky to have you", Kehlani said. "What about you Y/N?", Camila asked. "Oh well I have finished my course for robotics engineering, and as some of you may know I love NASA, so I'm getting my degree in aeronautical studies, and then I get to study space and all our glorious galaxies", I boasted. "But of course I will be using my engineering and science skills for more than space and I plan to go to Haiti after graduation to work on medical advancements and an engineering proposition there in order to allow stability in their lifestyles", I said. "You and Z, changing the world one step at a time", Normani said. "We're all going to change the world", Lauren said. "Ally will make people happy with her food, Normani will create a fashion trend, Camila will be one of the biggest successes in the music industry, Kehlani will be putting a smile on kids' faces with her animation, I will be designing infrastructure, Z is going to make sure all people are kept safe and respected, and Y/N is going to create new ways of efficiency for us to live", Lauren said. "And Dinah will be one of the greats in WNBA", I said. Everyone frowned and suddenly I remembered, Dinah won't be in the WNBA or do anything for that matter. "Guys, what if she wakes up?", Camila asked. "It's a possibility that she will", Normani said. "That would be a miracle", Ally said. "Well miracles don't always happen", Kehlani said. Once again my phone started to ring and it was the same number from last time, but I decided to end it. However, I then got a text from the number.

Y/N will you pick up the damn phone. We need to talk

"I'll be right back guys", I said. "Okay", they said. I went to the restroom and called the number. "Who is this?", I asked. "Before you get mad, promise not to hang up the phone", I clenched my first. "Heather", I growled. "What do you want?", I asked sternly. "I'm at Dinah's hospital room and I just wanted to know when they're taking her off the machine", Heather said. "Why are you there? You didn't even like her", I said. "I'm not as bad as you think I am, I know that you think I hate you-  ". "Oh, but you do", I interrupted. "Look, I did care about Dinah, but not in the way I should have, I feel awful about what happened, I really do, just to see her like this breaks my heart, please, believe me, I know I'm messed up, but-   ". "Clearly", I said. "But when it came to being there for people when they really needed me, I was there, and can you please stop interrupting me, I'm being insanely nice to you right now", Heather said. "I hate you", I said. "I hate you so much, you ruined my life and Dinah's, and you can't even say sorry! She's freaking dead and you can't even say sorry! I don't care how damn awful you feel, you know what I do, I hope you rot in hell Heather", I hung up the phone. I stomped out of the restroom and slumped down next to Lauren. "Who called you?", Ally asked. "Heather", I said. All the girls exchanged looks. "What did she want?", Kehlani asked. "She's at Dinah's hospital room, attempting to sound remorseful and kind", I said irritated. "I don't want her there", Zendaya said. "Let's go", Normani said. "Let's give her hell", I said. Kehlani and I looked at each other with menacing looks. "I got your back sis", Kehlani said.
