12:00 am

As Marinette sat at her desk in her rolling chair, she worked on the class assignment for science. She was already dreading the thought of having to wake up in only five hours for school. Though she could hardly keep her eyes open, a knock was heard from her balcony hatch causing her to jolt. It was an excuse to get away from her homework so she opened the door for Chat. He slid through the hatch door bowing at the sight of the girl. She couldn't help but wonder why he was here in her room at this hour. "Chat? What are you doing here?" She remarked.
He frowned a little. Had she said something wrong? "Sorry if that came off rude." She blushed he still didn't answer or talk. She became a bit concerned.

"E-everything okay?"

He snapped out of whatever trance he was in when she said this. He seemed off tonight.
"Y-yeah sorry. I was just restless and couldn't sleep. What are you doing still up?" He tried changing the subject. She rubbed her eyes and walked back to her desk in a sigh. "I have to finish my homework. I guess I'm just not very good at timing things. Or science for that matter." She muttered. He chuckled a bit and leaned over her shoulder to see what she was working on.
"I could help. I mean science is my favorite subject so it's really no problem. Why did you take this class if you hate science? I thought you already completed your science credits."
"No, I guess I shouldn't have put it off till senior year but what can I say. And it's really not necessary that you do it." She yawned.
Another chuckle escaped from him and he pulled her keyboard over to him quickly typing in information. She had almost fallen asleep but managed to eye him as he intently scanned the form. If she said anything else she'd feel awkward again.
"I think that should be it, princess." He broke the silence. "I'm not a princess!" She blushed slightly rolling her eyes. "B-but thanks. You're a lifesaver."
A dorky smile spread across his face and he laughed at her and how she denied his words. Her and Chat Noir had grown a friendship over the years of high school. In fact, her friendship with Adrien began to plummet once he became the high school 'player'. But she still had a small crush on him. Now being much older, the fact that she would be in college soon was a hard thought to come across. It was challenging enough to juggle her alter ego with her high school life. Now college was her biggest worry. "You look sleepy." He commented noticing she could barely keep her eyes from shutting.

"Very."

He walked her to bed and tucked her in. As he was about to leave she stopped him.
"Chat...why did you come here?"
He thought of something quick to answer.
"I just wanted to check on you..." He sighed still appearing slightly affected by her tone. She felt bad again. "I know when you're lying." She said looking down. He avoided her gaze and tried to leave again but she pulled him next to her. "Why are you here?" She urged again with a stronger sense of security.
She really never gave up...did she? He sighed in defeat. "It's been tough at home. My dad constantly pushing me. My mom completely out of the picture for years now. Today was the day she had disappeared. I wish I could go back to when it was easier. But...I'm here because you're the only one who still listens when I'm feeling alone or hurt. You're selfless and that's what makes you so easy to talk to. Y-your my escape Marinette."
She blushed deeply suddenly feeling much more awake than before. She smiled and put a hand on his cheek. "Was that so hard?" She giggled. It brought music to his ears every time the sound escaped her. He loved being able to talk to her.
Once she calmed down she spoke again. "I'm glad you came to me..." she said still holding his cheek. "I should go now, princess." She decided not to comment on the nickname name. She didn't want him to leave, she just knew he was toxic for her if he were to stay. Her heart sort of pounded when he was near. Her palms would sweat and her focus was out of control. No....she couldn't be...falling in love with him? He sat up on the bed and unlatched the trap door.

1:30 am
——
"Goodnight." He whispered.

"Wait! Chat? Could you.."

"Yeah?" He stiffened.
"Stay a little longer. Please?"
He debated whether or not it was a good idea. She just seemed lonely. Like him. He crawled back into the bed.
"Okay." He huffed. "But only for a little bit."
She sighed happily gesturing him to scoot close. Though they were friends, he couldn't help but feel something spark in his mind. Even if only for a moment he felt as though she was more than that. It was because of something familiar about her. Something almost breathtaking. He couldn't quite explain it. He didn't know how he did, but he knew she felt it too.
It sent shivers down her back and she couldn't get rid of this nervousness in the pit of her stomach. It was like a fear that this moment would end and they wouldn't ever go back to it again. They stared in each other's eyes for a while contemplating whether either of them should speak.
"What's on your mind princess?"
He tilted his head just as if he were an actual kitten. It was adorable. Was she blushing? "N-nothing...it's just, this guy. You sort of remind me of him when you smile, it's...beautiful." He has no reaction but to laugh nervously. Who did she like?
A burning inside him turned to think of the time Nathaniel's crush on her got out to the class. He remembered the burning feeling he got inside his heart. Remembered the fun he had being able to fight the Akuma with her like with Ladybug. Remembered their friendship. How it used to be. Now at school, everyone stayed clear of him except Nino. No matter how much of a player he was to some, Nino was still by his side.
"Are you going to tell me who this mystery guy is?" She glances down and his ears twitched, prepared for an answer. "I suppose I could tell you. Only if you promise to keep a secret. Only Alya and Nino know." She said.
"You can trust me." He nodded. The breath she kept in was let out in a huff as she asked him a question first. "Would it be wrong to say I'm in love with two different people?" He widened his eyes. She was asking him for advice? He doesn't know a thing about love! "I-I don't know...I think I'm having the same problem." She furtively glanced at his lips but quickly looked back down at the covers he tucked her into. "Adrien."
"What—"
"It's Adrien Agreste. The boy I've had a crush on, it's him. Since the eighth grade actually. But I'm starting to feel like he'll never be the same again. He's gotten colder, the bad boy act suits him though. I don't know. Maybe I'm falling out of love with him."
He kept his jaw from flying open which only made his face look as if he was holding in something important. She liked him? Why was he suddenly excited? He opened his mouth to speak.
