I ate it.

I had to eat it.

As I inched the fork towards my mouth, I winced as I smelt the calories.

I was probably putting on weight just sniffing it.

I placed the forkful in my mouth.

Chew. Chew. Swallow.

It tasted like calories.

I could barely concentrate on what Jack was saying, as the thought of taking another bite made me feel nauseous.

But I had to make it through.

I looked at my watch. 19:40.

"So where do you normally go to at lunch? I've looked for you other days but you always seem to disappear."

He's looked for me before?
"There's a corner of the library. Nobody seems to know about it. Or maybe they know I'm there and avoid the hell out of it."

"I don't see how anyone could keep away from your smile. Look, it's contagious!" He grinned, showing his perfectly white teeth in all their glory.

My watch my 19:50. Time to move.

I smiled at him, "I'm just going to pop to the loo. I'll be right back."

He nodded, oblivious. "Don't be too long, or you might not get any more spaghetti!"

It made me laugh.
