The past
Cynthia had it all, a perfect husband, a perfect child and a perfect family. Things were nice and calm, she was happy. Everything was going smooth until she found out her son was going to die soon.
"Should we tell him?" Cynthia asked Clyde with worried eyes. "We should, he's a brave boy," Clyde said with determination while hugging her. They both looked out the window and saw their son playing with his friends. A medical report was on Cynthia's hands. Cynthia walked outside and asked him to come inside the house. "Honey, can you come in? Mommy and daddy want to have a talk with you." She asked. The young boy said goodbye to his friends and went into the house.
"Yes? What do you want to talk about, did I do something wrong?" The boy asked with concern. "Felix, when people get really sick or become very old, they will pass die," Clyde explained carefully with sorrow in his eyes. Felix knew he was sick, but he did not know that he was going to die this young. "Am I going to die?" Felix asked worriedly. Cynthia and Clyde looked at each other and nodded at Felix. "Honey, don't worry. We still have time together," She told him. "We will always be by your side until you sleep." Clyde told him. All three of them hugged together tightly.
For the remaining months, they spent each moment together as a family. They did everything together, Cynthia and Clyde gave their son the greatest memories. Never once did they mention death.
One night, Felix passed out. Cynthia and Clyde quickly sent him to the hospital. The doctors operated him in the emergency room. They waited outside the emergency room, hoping and praying that everything was alright. After an hour, the doctor came outside the room and explained Felix's condition. "He will be stable for a few hours, after that he will die. I'm sorry, there's nothing more we can do." the doctor explained. After hearing the news, Cynthia and Clyde cried while hugging each other.
Felix laid on the bed unconscious with Cynthia and Clyde sitting beside the bed. He was still alive because he was on life support but he could not wake up "What-t are we going to do without-t him?" She asked while sobbing. Clyde hugged her, he knew there was a way to save their son but he did not tell her. They did not want Felix to suffer anymore. Both of them held his hand tightly. "We love you, son," They said at the same time. Before Clyde let go of his hand, he placed a glass ball on his hand. They asked the doctor to turn off the life support and Felix was gone.
After he was gone, Cynthia had a nightmare. A hand tried to pull her down into molten glass. Before she got pulled into the molten glass, she would hear the word 'mother'. After that, she woke up with tears on her face.
