Third Person POV
It was about ten that morning and Alexis went to go see Oliver. "Hey, did you get all ten of Britt's messages?" asked Alexis.
"Yeah," said Oliver. "Let's go." They went to Watch Tower (Justice League HQ) and met up with Brittany. "Brittany?"
"Oliver and Alexis," said Brittany. "You got my message."
"We got all ten of them, Brittany," said Oliver.
"Where are the other super-friends?" asked Alexis.
"Still waiting for them to ping me back," said Brittany. "This is why I keep asking everybody to come up with some standardized trouble alert. The team needs structure."
"Is that what we're lacking?" Alexis asked.
"You're really on a kick lately, Brittany," said Oliver looking at the computer screens. "Personal phone conversations, back records, Amazon wish list."
"Big Sister's watching," said Brittany.
"Is that my e-mail?" asked Oliver. "I'll have you know that those messages between me and Canary were platonic."
"Can we skip your virtual love life and actually focus on the job here?" joked Alexis.
"Okay. The guy that got killed is Sylvester Pemberton and he had a long criminal record," said Brittany. "Fraud, embezzlement, and assault. He didn't have any family but he did have a friend show up at the hospital."
"Run a face recognition scan," said Alexis. Brittany did. "She's still in high school."
"Courtney Whitmore. A sophomore at Blue Valley High and, uh, she gets a big old D plus for her attendance," said Brittany. "She hasn't been to school in the last three weeks."
"You don't think Blondie's our killer, do you?" asked Oliver.
"No, but I think she knows something," said Brittany. "I wanna take a closer look at this glowing staff the police have in evidence. We need to get it."
"We, meaning Alexis and I, right?" asked Oliver.
Brittany smiled, "Yeah."
Alexis and Oliver left the building and started walking. "We need to get that staff for Brittany," said Alexis. "I'll take a peek." She got onto the roof and looked through the windows. She didn't see the staff. She returned back to Oliver. "It's not in there."
"Hold on," said Oliver. He got out his phone and called Brittany. "Brittany, I got a peek inside lock up. Pemberton's glow stick is MIA."
"When you say I, you mean Alexis, right?" asked Brittany.
"Yes, yes he does," said Oliver. "We have to track it down." They saw Courtney. "Call you back."
We walked over to Courtney. "Excuse me. Miss Whitmore?"
"Do I know you?" asked Courtney.
"If I had to take a guess, I'd say that golden rod doesn't belong to you," said Oliver. "You don't wanna get the police involved in this, do you? It'd be a shame to miss your junior, junior prom. Breaking and entering into police lockup gets more than a slap on the wrist." She pointed the staff at them. "Whoa, hey."
"Come any closer and I'll give you my version of a slap on the wrist," said Courtney.
"Let me just cut to the chase, Lite-Brite," said Oliver. "Two people where murdered, including a friend of yours."
"Two?" asked Courtney.
"I'm trying to figure out who's behind this but I need you to be stright with me," said Oliver.
Some guy held the staff with Courtney. "Hey, wait," said Courtney.
The staff started glowing and there was this bright light. Oliver covered Alexis from it. They looked back up. Courtney and the guy were gone. "We lost them," said Alexis. Brittany ran over to us. "How'd you find us?"
Brittany's POV
"GPS on your cells," I said. "I know where Pemberton's car is. Let's get going."
We started walking. "If someone's killing criminals from the past, why kidnap Courtney?" asked Alexis.
"Maybe she knew what Sylvester Pemberton had hidden up his star covered sleeve," I said. We got to a parking lot. "His car received a handful of parking tickets in this lot. So, it should be easy to spot."
"You could say that," said Oluver. We looked at his car. We walked over to it. "Just give me a sec to get this door open."
"Or you could just try the handle," I said oepned the door. "Clark's at the Daily Planet trying to track down ,Pemberton's address but it looks like he may have been living here."
"Well, if he knew someone was after him, maybe he was on the run," said Alexis.
"Well, his choice of transport doesn't exactly blend in," said Oliver. "Star Rocket Racer. What do you supposed this was, a getaway car?" He looked through a journal. "He knew about is. All of us." He handed Alexis the journal. "He knew our identities."
"That means Courtney probably does too," said Brittany. "Let's head back to watch Tower." We walked to Watch Tower and did a little research. Night started falling and they got into our gear. "You guys ready yet?"
"Yeah," said Alexis as they walked out to me. They put on their earpiece. "Time to patrol."
Oliver and Alexis left Watch Tower. "Oliver?" I asked.
"What's wrong?" asked Oliver.
"Clark's gone," I said.
"What do you mean he's gone?" asked Alexis.
"One of Pemberton's old gang somehow teleported him away," I said. "He had to show him something. Called him his friend."
"Where would they take him?" asked Oliver.
"The same place they took Courtney," I said.
