Emma’s P.O.V.

When the day of Eric’s pool party came, I was so nervous I could barely think straight. I wore faded denim capris with a loose multicolored tank top. My hair was straightened and I was hardly wearing any makeup. I slipped on some flip flops and raced downstairs to make sure that my grandfather was fed and had something to do for the day. When I double-checked that everything was ready, I hopped on my bike and set off to his house. The weather was perfect to be outdoors and I was super excited to see Eric. When I arrived, he warmly greeted me at the front door and told me to come inside so that I could meet everyone else. He introduced me, and my heart skipped a beat when he referred to me as his girlfriend and pulled me in for a kiss. Everyone else seemed very nice, but I mostly just stuck by Eric. Once we were all familiar with each other, we headed outside and set up. Snacks were set on fold out tables and music was blaring from a portable dock. Some people went to go play volleyball while others just jumped in the pool. Everything was perfect.

Eric’s P.O.V.

Emma had just laid her towel down on the grass and she looked so happy. I was just about to join her when Andrew, one of my friends was bugging her to come in the water with him. At first he was standing in front of her trying to convince her to come in, but then he reached for her hands and got her to her feet. She tried resisting when he started towing her towards the water, but he was by far stronger. I thought it was harmless and playful until I heard her voice.

“No, please- please stop!” she pleaded, fear shot in her voice. But he wouldn’t stop.

“Please, please, please, stop!” she almost screamed.

“Andrew!” I hollered. But it was to late.
