I was drifting in ice-cold water and a strong current was pushing me here and there. Even though I was being violently shoved into sharp rocks and helplessly drowning, I felt peace. I knew I was dying, but I was ok with it. My life wasn’t worth living.

Just as I felt like I was finally going to slip away, warmth enveloped my body. I tried to push it away, but it wouldn’t budge. The icy water that had numbed my pain was fading, and I could feel my wounds start to burn. I was being snatched from my peaceful state and I cam to the realization that I wasn’t dead…

I woke with a start to a searing pain coming from my forehead. I moaned and tried to sit up, but something gentle pushed me back down. I slowly opened my eyes to see Eric’s face. Even though it was shot with worry, his face gave me a sense of security. But questions started popping up that made my head pound. Where was I? What happened? I moaned again, I was in so much pain… but why? Then I remembered. Flashes of Eric kissing Kloe burned in my head and tears immediately started falling down my cheek.

“Why did you save me?” I demanded, trying to get his hands off my shoulders.

“You almost died…” he whispered, pure pain in his voice.

“That’s what I was aiming for.” I replied coldly.

“Why?” he pleaded.

“Why? You’re asking me why I jumped?” I started, annoyance in my voice, “Eric, how could you? I saw you and Kloe… you made me feel loved and you went and… you don’t even love me… and if I don’t have you I have anything else to live for.”

“Emma, I didn’t kiss her. She pounced on me right when you opened the door. I don’t love her! I love you! If you would have died…” he broke off, “I think I would have to kill myself too.”

He saw the suspicion in my eyes.

“Emma, I would never lie to you or do anything to hurt you. I promise… you have to believe me!” he almost pleaded.

I looked into his eyes and saw nothing but the truth.

“I believe you Eric.” I whispered, feeling so happy that he didn’t cheat on me. He looked into my eyes and I could see relief.

“I love you so much.” He soothed, stroking my hair gently.

Eric’s P.O.V.

I suddenly snapped back into reality when I saw the bandage on her forehead soaked with blood.

“Hey, I’m just going to put a new bandage on your forehead, okay?”

She nodded weakly and squeezed her eyes shut.

I gingerly took the old one off, threw it out and put a new one on. I looked at her when I was finished and saw her biting her lip.

“Okay, I’m done. You can open your eyes.” I said gently.

She opened her eyes and let out a deep sigh. She looked up so that our eyes met and I was shocked to see that her lips were blue. All of a sudden, she started shivering.

“Your lips are blue. I’m an idiot.” I muttered.

“N-no y-your not-t.” she stuttered with her trembling body.

I quickly scooped her up and took her to my room. I set her on my bed and searched for the softest sweats I could find. When I finally settled for a fleece sweater, and old t-shirt and sweat pants, I looked back to her.

“E-Eric,” she started, “c-can I hav-ve a sh-shower?”

“Of course,” I replied, “The bathroom is right over there.” I pointed right behind her.

She slowly stood up and thanked me, taking the sweats.
