A heavy silence thicker than the uneasy tension in the atmosphere settled over the two girls.

They had come to a stop at their designated meeting area on a wooden bridge - extended over a small pond - which was underneath a weeping willow tree.

Saeyoung's chocolate-brown eyes darted around nervously, adamant to avoid catching Jisoo's piercing gaze that was boring into her like drills.

"What do you want?" Saeyoung queried, fiddling with her fingers to ease her anxiety. When she looked up after hearing no response from the other girl for a solid ten seconds, she was surprised to find Jisoo equally nervous or even more so than herself. The normally pretentious, snobby queen bee of the school was biting her plump, lipgloss-coated lips and a tinge of red was dusting her freckled cheeks.

"Well?" Saeyoung tried to coax the words out of Jisoo. She did not want to come off as impatient but her jitteriness was taking full control of her.

Jisoo's blush simply darkened but she stayed quiet, further aggravating Saeyoung.

Heaving a short sigh, Saeyoung turned on her heels to take her leave.

"Okay, if you're not ready yet, I'll give you more time. Now please excuse me, I don't have time for-"

"I like you," the violet-haired female blurted out, causing the other girl to freeze in her tracks.

Saeyoung slowly twisted her upper body around with her feet planted to the ground and a gleam of bewilderment in her dilated amber eyes.

"What did you just say?"

Jisoo seemed to steel her resolve as she lifted her head higher.

"You heard me. I like you, Seo Saeyoung," she declared, her voice strong and unwavering. She met Saeyoung's gaze with eyes full of adoration that was so uncharacteristic of her. They were always void of life and betrayed none of her emotions.

An unintelligible noise of disbelief escaped from Saeyoung upon registering Jisoo's sudden confession.

"Right," she drawled, scepticism palpable on her physiognomy, "Kim Jisoo, the precious daughter of the principal and the visual goddess of this school, having a crush on me - an awkward nerd with homosexual parents and is constantly targetted and made fun of by the entire goddamn homophobic school? Oh, this is a good one. April Fools' Day is still far away, Jisoo. I know you hate us but I didn't think you would go to the extent where you pretend to like girls and tell me you have feelings for me."

If Saeyoung had noticed Jisoo wincing, she did not mention it.

"This isn't a joke-"

"You're right, this isn't a joke. This is fucking bullshit," Saeyoung spat vehemently, fighting the urge to shove her into the pond below them. Jisoo flinched after hearing Saeyoung's heated outburst.

"Saeyoung, you do realize that I have never ever ostracized you because of your parentage, don't you? It was always Jennie and Lalisa or the rest of the school. I've been a lesbian ever since I was born so why would I pick on others who are like me? That's just being hypocritical," Jisoo stated in a steady, matter-of-factly tone. She appeared to be completely composed and calm when she was a tensed, nervous ball of mess earlier on and it infuriated Saeyoung.
