'I didn't expect to see Minji there today. Crap...I should have listened when she told me about the days she will be on shift.' Saeyoung thought to herself, clutching her cold drink in her hands as she tuned out Jisoo rambling on and on about some random shit she could not give two fucks about.
Saeyoung hated confrontations of any kind so when she came face to face with Minji that afternoon at the shop where Jisoo had brought her to for their first date, she silently cursed the gods for making that awkward encounter between her and her friend happened.
The feud between her and Felix had not only created a rift between them, but it also caused a towering wall to separate her from her group of her friends. It was immature of her to go out of her way to avoid running into them the whole day but she could not go back to them yet if it meant having to interact with Felix who was most likely still mad at her. Obviously, the solution to the situation was to apologize but she could not afford to bruise her pride.
'Geez, what a saint. Choosing your own pride over your friends...I am the lowliest of the low.' The curly-haired brunette sighed internally as she let Jisoo coil her own arm around hers with slight reluctance.
"And then Chaeyoung - oh excuse me, I need to take this call," Jisoo said, flashing Saeyoung a brief apologetic smile. Saeyoung's train of thought halted and she excused the purple-haired girl with a nod and a meek smile of her own.
"Hello?...Yes, that's him, you found him already? That was quick...oh, he is a suitable candidate? Does that mean he got the job?...Okay, then I expect you to make your final decisions by the end of today...Good, I'll call you later, bye."
With her interest spiked, Saeyoung listened intently to the conversation without any shame and the instant Jisoo ended the call, she could no longer suppress her curiosity and started questioning her.
"Are you talking about my dad?"
"Yup, my mom said they are gonna bring him back to one of her modelling branches and conduct their evaluations there before deciding if they should actually hire him."
"'Conduct their evaluations?' How?" The confusion in the dark-skinned girl's voice was evident. 'Why the hell does Jisoo always speak in that posh way? Like Jesus Christ girl, this is the twenty-first century. No one speaks Shakespearean anymore.'
"Oh, I think they'll just apply some makeup on him, dress him up and then make him pose for a few pictures before deciding if his physique and visuals meet their criteria. Once he is deemed qualified, he gets the job as their cover boy."
