"Thank you for gracing us with your presence, gentlemen," the young Literature teacher exclaimed with a simpering smile, sending the class to hysterical fits of laughter at the sight of the two blushing males.
Elizabeth Nakamoto and her husband were fair, understanding teachers who were aware of the six students' parentage just like every other staff. However, they were sympathetic and talked to Felix and his friends sometimes to make sure they were faring well in school. Hence, the six friends only considered her and Mr Nakamoto to be the only teachers worth respecting.
Despite her kindness, she still won't let it slide when her students show up late to her class. That was one thing she absolutely could not tolerate.
"Sorry Mrs Nakamoto, I ran into some trouble. Literally," Felix explained with a smirk directed at an offended-looking Mark who gave him a swift smack to the arm.
Saeyoung rolled her eyes with an exasperated shake of her head, turning to Minji who sat right beside her.
The dark-skinned girl's eyes widened upon noticing how starstruck Minji looked. Her cherry-red lips were slightly parted in awe and she couldn't seem to take her eyes off the stranger that had just entered the class. Saeyoung was about to question her friend when she was interrupted by Mrs Nakamoto's cheery voice.
"Well then," the woman chirped, leaning back on her desk with her arms crossed, drawing Saeyoung's attention back to her, "you will be receiving your punishment first. Then you may go to your seats."
The two males groaned in unison.
"But I just transferred here. Can you let me off the hook just this once?" Mark requested with an innocent smile that Mrs Nakamoto saw right through.
"Nu-uh. Not gonna work on me, buddy. You may be new here but you aren't getting away with being late for my class," the young teacher drawled, looking unimpressed with Mark's attempt to charm her. "You're Mark Lee, the new kid from Canada, am I right?"
"Yes, ma'am."
"Dear lord, I am only twenty-three so don't call me that. I can feel myself ageing," she cried melodramatically, cupping her face. "Do I even have wrinkles for you to mistake me for a middle-aged lady?"
The transfer student, Mark - noted by Saeyoung and Minji - blushed a deep shade of red and began stringing together a fumbled apology which only made the class erupt into raucous laughter. Even the teacher and Felix were snickering.
"Let loose a little, Mark," said Mrs Nakamoto airily, patting his shoulder once or twice. "You're too tense."
Mark nodded his head obediently. His cheeks were still a beautiful shade of pink.
