Locked door. Closed windows. There was no way out.
Soundproof walls. A gag in her mouth. There was no one who could hear her pleas to be let out.
She didn't know how many days, weeks, or months had gone by. Much less what time of the day it was.
She was stuck in perpetual darkness at all times. The only company she had down here in Jisoo's basement was the three hanging bodies. The darkness made it more bearable for her since she couldn't see their vacant eyes watching her blankly. They were the main cause of many sleepless nights where she had cried herself to sleep.
The only times she wasn't left alone with the corpses was when Jisoo visited her to give her food and water. Once she was fed and hydrated, Jisoo would depart for school, leaving her all alone until the afternoon. That was when the Korean elite returned from school.
Usually, Jisoo brought her lunch, talked with her for a while (it was more of one-sided conversation) and free her from the chains to let her wash up. The first time Jisoo uncuffed her hands, Saeyoung tackled her to the floor and savagely dug her nails into the woman's unblemished skin hard enough to draw blood. Before Saeyoung could knock her out and make her escape, Jisoo deftly whipped out a remote and pressed a small red button on it.
A large jolt passed through Saeyoung's body and the shock rendered her motionless for several seconds. That was ample time for Jisoo to lock her up again and leave her there in the basement to starve for presumably around two days as punishment. When Jisoo paid her a visit after those hellish two days, Saeyoung did not put up any fight. She was too drained of energy to protest when Jisoo spoon-fed her. Even if she could, she wouldn't dare to resist her a second time. The remote was connected to the heavy collar strapped around her neck by Jisoo. One simple press of a button and Saeyoung could be electrocuted to death.
After finishing her meals, Jisoo would turn the lights off and she would return to the familiar environment of darkness shrouding her like a suffocating blanket.
Sleep wasn't the only thing Saeyoung was losing. She was losing her mind too. Not knowing what time of the day it was, or when or how she would be killed left her paranoid and fearful at all times. She also had no form of entertainment to distract herself from her turmoil and she could feel herself slowly weakening - mentally and physically.
Saeyoung bit back a sob. Where was the police? Are they even going to come to rescue her? There was a tiny flame of hope in her before. Just a weak flicker against a strong wind. But now it had completely gone out.
She would rot down here with the three girls. And her eyes would soon join the rest in Jisoo's sick collection.
The clanging of the metal lock sliding out of its place and the creaking of the rusty hinges of the door when it opened disrupted her musings. She wearily lifted her head.
However, the person standing at the doorway wasn't Jisoo. The stranger was significantly shorter than the Korean beauty.
Saeyoung's eyes lit up for a moment, naively thinking it was a saviour who had come to rescue her. She was proved wrong when the person shut the door behind them with an air of finality.
