Medusa Loves Again

No One's POV:

Long ago, a young Cavendish was turned into a monster not just because she refused to marry Andrew, a very wealthy man, but also went against her Aunt's wishes. Her Aunt and cousins turned her into a medusa, punishing her for her crimes. Her Aunt said that no one would ever love her and sent her away to rot in a faraway land, the deepest darkest forest. But the young Cavendish could change her body from snake to legs, but she had to hide her hair and eyes so she wouldn't turn anyone into stone. Years have passed, and the Cavendish has survived but still has not been loved; no matter who came for her, they were all turned to stone. That is, until one day, it all changed.

Diana's POV:

'Another day, another lonely day...' I thought to myself as I stretched on the bed I had acquired over the years. I slithered my way over to the bathroom I had made and proceeded with my hygienic duties. Afterward, I went to the kitchen to look for something to eat, only to find I had nothing. "Damn it all! Now I have to go into town and deal with humans!" I said aloud with frustration and annoyance in my voice.

I never really liked humans. They were foolish idiots. They angered me even more when they started to try and take my head for a weapon, which forced me into deeper hiding. I grabbed my sunglasses, my cape, my hood, and my basket before I left for the town. Before I was in the area, I changed my body into two legs and began my way into town.

It was lively around this time of day, I enjoyed the festivities and the children that had run around playing. This was one of the very rare moments when I enjoyed being here, but then I would get sad whenever I saw a couple because I knew I could never have what they had. I entered the market and began filling my basket when someone bumped into me, and I fell. I groaned and touched my face, soon causing my eyes to widen when I realized that I didn't have my sunglasses! I frantically look for them on the ground until I feel a tap on my shoulder.

"I think you dropped these, Miss! Sorry for bumping into you. I wasn't watching where I was going," The voice said as I peeked over to see her hand handing me the sunglasses I had lost. I hesitantly take them back and slip them on, getting up and dusting myself off, then turning to thank the woman, when suddenly my heart stopped. I looked at the woman, and she smiled at me, "You alright, Miss..." Her voice trailed off as I stared at this woman I had just met.

She was so cute and looked very bright and kind, I didn't know what was going on with me, but then I blushed out of embarrassment as she waved her hand in front of my face, trying to get my attention. "H-Huh!? Oh! I'm sorry, I spaced out! It's Diana, my name is Diana," I replied to her comment earlier and put my hand out to shake hers. She smiled, lifted my hand, and kissed it, causing me to blush.

"Beautiful name for a beautiful girl!~ My name's Akko! It's a pleasure to meet you, Diana!" I blushed and smiled at her comment and her words. "You are too kind. What brings you to the market? I haven't seen you around before," I responded, wanting to start more conversation. "Oh! I'm not from around here, that's why! I'm looking for a special someone and to redeem them!" Akko had stated rather proudly, which caused me to giggle.

"You're cute. I hope you find them!" I say with a smile and then turn to walk away, then immediately blushing afterward. 'What did I just say!?' I thought I felt happy but also confused and nervous; this caused the snakes that I was cursed with to start hissing excitingly. I shushed them before anyone could notice and then went to pay for my things. Before leaving, I turn to see Akko waving at me with a bright smile. I wave back and return the smile, adding a wink, then leaving with happiness in my heart. 'I hope I see her again!' I thought, then returned to the place I call home.

Akko's POV:

"I think you dropped these, Miss! Sorry for bumping into you. I wasn't watching where I was going," I said to the stranger I had just bumped into. Way to go, Akko. After she took back her sunglasses and lifted her face, I blushed a little as I saw what she looked like. She was beautiful, she looked very elegant and fit, and even her voice was angelic. After our awkward yet cute moment, we began talking, and if I'm being honest, it was one of the best talks I've had in a while.
