The bus stopped and Harry stood up, grabbing my hand and pulling me along. My hand instantly warmed at his touch. Harry walked off the bus and hurried down the street. I followed him, my hand still in his. As we were rushing, my feet stumbled over each other and I tripped, falling forward into Harry. I’m also pretty sure that the sound that came from my mouth wasn’t human at all. Well that’s embarrassing… I was about to crash into Harry when a pair of hands gripped the sides of my arms and steadied me. I looked up at my savior.
“So you’re a klutzy girl, huh?” Harry questioned.
“You could say that,” I said, trying to let a hint of humor fill my voice.
Harry chuckled and grabbed my hand, beginning to lead me again, this time at a slower pace. We were walking when Harry abruptly stopped. I, who was more focused on my surroundings, didn’t notice Harry’s actions and crashed right into his back.
“Oh my goodness,” I said, slightly embarrassed. “I’m so sorry.”
He laughed, light and easygoing. “It’s alright love. You weren’t kidding about being a bit of klutz. Guess I’ll have to be more careful around you.” He gave me a smirk.
I, being the child that I am and still completely embarrassed, stuck my tongue out at him. He laughed and pulled me into a building. It wasn’t anything special. A small, sort of dingy bar with a few tables. Harry pulled me over to a table in the corner. I looked around. There were a few people at the bar having a few drinks while watching the soccer game on the television. There was a family near the window having lunch, laughing at joke that had just been told. My smile faltered and I felt the tears start to form. I blinked rapidly, pushing them away, and took a shaky breath. I turn to look at Harry who was studying me, his eyebrows knitted together over the tops of his sunglasses. Wait. Why did he still have his sunglasses on? Well I guess the windows did make it sort of bright in here. Harry was still looking at me so I hastily grabbed a menu and started flipping through it.
“So,” I started. “What’s good here?”
Just as Harry was about to answer, a waitress came over to our table.
“Can I take your order?” She said in a bored voice.
“Uh, yeah. I’ll have what he’s having and a water please,” I told her while pointing at Harry.
She looked over at Harry and her mood instantly shifted. She flicked her hair over her shoulder, put a smile on her face, and leaned towards Harry, giving him a better view of her cleavage.
“And what can I get for you?” She purred. I didn’t hesitate to pick up on her double meaning. Harry seemed oblivious though.
He looked at the menu, eyebrows knitted together. “We will be having two cheeseburgers with chips please. And I’ll have a coke.”
She wrote down our order and walked away, obviously disappointed that Harry hadn’t fawned over her. I snickered, finding the whole thing completely hilarious. Harry looked over at me, a smirk playing on his lips and his eyebrows raised high above his glasses.
“Something amusing?” He asked me.
“You really don’t know?” I questioned.
“Know what?” He seemed genuinely confused. Well I suppose I should help the poor guy out.
“That waitress was all over you. She thinks you’re hot,” I told him.
He looked at me, still a bit confused. “Really?”
“Yes really. When she asked if there was something she could get for you, there was another meaning for it Harry,” I told him.
Harry burst into laughter. I smirked a bit. Well I was just being honest.
