Chapter 16

~(Y/n)'s P.O.V~

The man walks in and it's hard to keep my eyes off of him. His violet hair making his crimson suit stand out even more.

He breathes in and looks at us.

"Ah welcome!" Kaneki grabs a pen and pad.

~Juuzou's P.O.V~

Shinohara-san hasn't knocked on my door. He's working. I can't get out of bed and go to eat.

I don't want to face (Y/n). I don't get it. Why? Why does my chest feel heavy?

Why am I embarrassed? I stare at the folds of my blanket. I'm sweaty but I don't want to look up from the blanket. What if she's there?

Why am I worried? I can't believe she disobeyed! I just want to gouge her eyes out so she can never see them again.

"Juuzou," Shinohara-san. "Do you want to talk about it?"

I slip out of bed with the blanket.

"Shinohara-san... " I whine. "Why did she have to come in? I'm embarrassed."

I open the door and Shinohara-san has already turned off the lights.

"Remember when I saw them Juuzou?" Shinohara-san walks to the kitchen. I'm supposed to follow right? So I do. "You were really embarrassed too."

"It's different!" I say. "It's different because... it's (Y/n)!"

Shinohara-san stares at me for a long time. I don't know how to explain it. I know why it's different but I don't know how to say it.

"You can't hide in your room forever, Juuzou" He says. "And talk with (Y/n). Her stay is most likely permanent so it's better to be on good terms."

"Okay" I say. Shinohara-san tells me to get ready soon because they're calling us in for a mission.

~(Y/n)'s P.O.V~

"That Tsukiyama guy was weird" I tell Kaneki. "He was basically inhaling you."

Kaneki shakes it off and says it doesn't bother him too much. He continues helping me out with the application and gives me tips about dealing with certain customers, using Tsukiyama as an example. After a few more conversations, Kaneki tells me I shouldn't be going home late and that he'll walk me. 

"Ah okay" I would be concerned for him but knowing that he is a ghoul, I guess I'm not so worried.

"It's been a while since we had time to catch up" Kaneki says.

"Yeah you're right" I say. "How are you and Touka?"

"We're good" He says. "I know we stopped going but it's... "

We start walking out the shop and down the street.

"Kaneki, I know" I say. It's hard to talk to him when I know the secret he's hiding. He looks at me, surprised and confused.

"K-Know what?" His cheeks get visibly red. We stop at the traffic light and wait.

"I know... you're a ghoul" I say the last part quietly. The light of a car flashes on Kaneki's face and it shows a face of shock.

"No I'm not-"

"I heard you and Touka talking when I got attacked" I say. I don't mention that Hide knows too. Kaneki gulps and when the light turns, we start walking.

"And you're not freaked out or anything?" He asks. I shake my head and we walk down the street and turn right.

We finally get on my street and we joke around some more.

"Well since you know," Kaneki starts. "Something big is happening but when it hits, please tell you'll stay inside."

"I-I will" I say, mostly confused. I heard about something happening and I'm guessing it's between the doves and the ghouls. "You and the people at Anteiku are gonna be fine, right?"

"We'll be fine" He says with a smile.

"Okay well I'll walk the rest" I say. "Thanks for walking me home."

"No problem" He says. "Stay safe."

We wave goodbye as we walk opposite direction. I suddenly remember Juuzou and I don't really want to go home yet but it isn't really safe out here.

I walk up the stairs and inside to see almost every light is off except for the kitchen but it's empty.

"Hello?" Are they at work? "Shinohara-san?"

I lock the door and enter the kitchen to see a note.

Away for an emergency. I made some spaghetti, enjoy!

I see a container of food and pull out a fork. It's still warm so I might have just missed them. I still feel terrified about what happened today. Juuzou's room was so scary but interesting.

"What to do... What to do... " I mutter. I hear shuffling. Did Juuzou not go? Where is it coming from?

I decide to check it out and keep my fork with me. What a good weapon, huh?

I hear it coming from Shinohara-san's room. Did one of them stay?

"Juuzou?" The noise stopped. A bad feeling filled my chest. "Juuzou? Can I come in?"

"Sure" It was almost muffled. I couldn't really hear it. I looked at the door knob and slowly wrapped my fingers around it. I hold the fork tightly. How much damage does a fork do?

I quickly open the door and see nothing. The room is empty.

"Juu... zou?" I put my finger to the light switch until I hear something. Breathing but where is it coming from? I look up slowly to see a figure in the corner.

I gasp and my eyes go wide. My mind goes blank as the figure on the ceiling looks down at me.

"I... " I choke up as the tears fall down my cheeks. Not again.
