A happy ending - Dylan's regret

Lilly

The calm months have gone by Dylan's eyes in a flash . The rain came pouring down , on a very dark night . The silence was broken in his home by his cell phone ringing . Dylan picked it up immediately "Hello ." 

Adam on the other side , lots of talking in the background "Lilly , she's in labor ." both the men were unsure whether to be excited or fearful . 

"I'll be right there ." Dylan said hanging up . He took his needs and quickly made him self appear there . Being the best wizard after his dads death , he was always reliable to others . He could do all sorts of things , without a spell or even the flick of the hand . More complicated magic he needed some direction with his hands , and with very specific magic he would use spells and enchantments . 

Getting to the hospital , as dry as the sunny day he didn't want to come . Dylan took a seat , in the waiting room , Adam was of course with Lilly . The time was ticking and Dylan eneded up falling asleep , very uncomfortable chair , he was exhausted . 

Clouds , dark clouds appeared before him in a very calm place . The grass was greener than Dylan had ever seen , the flowers looked so soothing and pure . It was like a happy place Dylan needed . It had gotten even better , seeing that ginger hair he wanted to feel slip through his hands again , those brown eyes he had forgotten about . 

"Cathrine !" Dylan shouted across the field , running closer and closer . Grabbing her waist , he looked into those dark eyes again , pulled her hair through his hands and kissed her cherry pink lips , so tightly and all he wanted was to be alive next to her . 

"Dylan . I've come to tell you something ." Cat said with a sad face , holding onto him like if she let go , he wouldn't make it . "There's someone out there more powerful than you ."  she said as she began to fade slowly . "There's not much time , go now ." The tears so real came rolling down her face . 

The light of the hospital lounge entered Dylan's eyes as he opened them . "Mr.Arnold , would you like to come see your god daughter ." The tall doctor asked , but to Dylan it wasn't even a question . Walking into the room , there was Lilly and Adam surrounding the new born baby . 

"Her name is Ruby ." Lilly said to Dylan as he smiled . 

"She's beautiful ." He replied with utter honesty . Skin so pale , she could have been snow white . 

"Okay I need to do some further testing on the baby once she is 5 years old ." The doctor said checking his record book . "Other wise , you can leave in two days ." 

"I cant wait to find out what color her eyes are ." Lilly said excitedly , to both Adam and Dylan . 

"When do you think you will know ?" Dylan asked very stupidly . 

"Well in like a week we will know exactly the colors ." Adam replied . 

Dylan had seen the baby was safe , he had seen they were happy again and that Lilly was alive , he thought it was time to leave , it being 2 a.m , he was exhausted . "You two get rest , I should head home too ." 

Lilly asked so innocently , she wanted him to build a bond with Ruby "Wait , will you be back tomorrow ?" 

"You can count on it ." Smirking back , Dylan closed the door behind him . 

Should he have told them his mysterious dream of Cat mentioning a dangerous and powerful person ? Who exactly is in danger ? What are they after ? Why are they coming now ? He questioned to himself as he laid in bed . Was Lilly going to be fine ? Was Adam going to protect her ? In the mist of his thoughts , Dylan heard a knock on his bedroom door . 

Turning around he sat up , rubbing his eyes . Dylan saw Darlene holding a stuffed bear , she looked worried . 

"Can I come lie next to you ?" She asked out of the blue . 

Dylan , catching on to her question . "Oh yeah , sure ." He moved to the left side of the bed so she could sleep on the right . They laid on there sides , face to face . "Is something wrong ?" he asked in a very soft voice , like someone else was in the house , but it was just them . 

"No , I just felt you needed me ." Darlene replied slowly , grabbing Dylan's cold hands and holding them gently while they both smiled , closing there eyes and drifting off to sleep . Sleep was like an escape for their feelings they had in reality , it stopped their time . Worry , stress and sadness drifted away . 

Awakening the next Saturday morning , Dylan smelt food , not any food but waffles . He used to make them for Cat all the time . Walking to the kitchen shirt less with only his star wars tracksuit pants on , Dylan found Darlene making breakfast . 

"I thought I would make you food for a change ." Darlene said with her back towards him , turning around her reaction changed . "Wow ." She gasped . looking at Dylan's upper body made her drool a little . "Oh sorry , it's just you're so hot ." Darlene could be honest with him about that , it made him blush and smile which she liked very much . 

She would say weird things that would make Dylan feel like Cat never left .
