A happy ending - Dylan's regret

Tongue tied

"All done Uncle Dylan ." Ruby spoke as she finished up putting Dylan's tongue back on . 

"It feels like it never came off ." Dylan tried to laugh at this moment , he didn't want his precious students to be sad anymore . "I'm sorry , it's my fault Rowen's gone , if I hadn't been so powerless maybe I could have saved him ." he held his hat to his chest , full of regret and sorrow . 

"It's okay Mr.Arnold . A few of us probably feel that way since we could have saved him . " Liz said trying to act strong , she just wanted to forget about it . "Let's go back to Fin , he might be concerned about you ." 

"Yeah while i'm here I may as well go drop by ." Dylan said smiling as though he had so much to think about , as though there was something he couldn't get out of his mind . There had to be a way to stop this menace . "Fin , how you doing ?"

"Good , i'm just glad Jen came back safely ." Fin looked at her as he said it , he felt a sense of relief . "I get released tomorrow mid day ."

"That's perfect ! It's Friday tomorrow , so why don't we have a girls night and a guys night ." Jen suggested jumping up and down like a puppy that just got a new toy . 

Fin giggled at how ridiculous and cute Jen sounded and so he agreed "Sounds fun ." 

"Bye Fin , see you tomorrow ." Jen kissed him gently on his forehead , they were all departing and they would be back again tomorrow . 

"Bye everyone ." Fin said waving at them , he was now left alone with the thoughts that had been hiding in his head , he felt as though these voices were about to make him go insane . He began to talk to himself in the private hospital room "Time to sleep guys ." What did he mean ? Was their anyone else in that room with him ? Fin was talking to the voices , the voices that he no longer wanted to hear , sleeping would make them shut up for a while . 

Waking up he felt much better than before , Fin had hardly ever spoken before , the only people he used to talk to were in the special forces . The nurse began to unplug and take out the things that Fin was hooked on "Nurse Linda , will I be released soon ?" 

"Yes , you must be grateful you made it , it must have been hard but you stayed strong ." this was the nurse that looked after vampire patients despite being human herself , she was an old lady .

"Are you okay ?" Fin was a strange boy and he had only known this nurse for 3 days , she sounded like she was full of regret and like her words were meant for someone else . 

"My son died at the age of 8 , he had the same problem as you ." Nurse Linda looked to the roof as though she wanted to tell him something . "I miss him , I regret not seeing how hurt he was , I regret not being able to rescue his pure and kind heart ." 

"I was so close to death , on my way to the gate I saw a little boy , he said to tell his mom he loves her and that he's okay now ." Fin looked up at her , the nurse was covering her mouth to stop herself from making so much noise , she began to tear up . "He told me , it was his last wish , he can only move on once you know  , he wanted you to know its not you're fault ." 

"How would you know if it was my son ?" She cried . 

"He told me you were a nurse here and he described you , I figured it must be you ." Fin explained letting lose a tear with her , this old nurse gave him a hug , she even smelt like an old nurse . 

"Thank you , bless your soul . I'm so grateful ." She wiped her tears , leaving the room with a huge smile painted on her face .  

Fin felt a weight lift off his shoulders , he had done someone a good deed , he figured to make time go past he started packing up his things . He looked up at the sound of the door opening . "Jen ?" 

"Damn I wanted to scare you ." She let out an evil laugh . "I came early , I need to fetch some medicine as well ." 

"Medicine for who ?"  Fin asked very concerned and worried . 

"For Liz , she some needs to help her calm down . I also have a prescription to get injections which I stick into my heart ." Jen explained simply .

"But why do you need that ?" Fin asked putting his hands into his black jean pockets that he missed so much . 

"As vampires , we don't really breath , we don't need to . My heart still beats slightly though which is dangerous for us . So I take medicine to decrease that ." Jen jumped onto the hospital bed . 

"So you're basically half alive ?" Fin asked still not understanding .

"You can put it like that , but it only started happening recently ." Jen took a container out of her bag and gave it to Fin . "Liz made these for you ." Fin took them gracefully . 

"Oh , dark chocolate muffins ! My favorite ." Fin took a bite of one . "I feel like they are dancing on my tongue ." 

"You like Liz don't you ?" Jen muttered and looked Fin straight in the eyes as he continued to eat the muffin . "I mean , before you met her , you never spoke to anyone , you always had this dark aura ." 

"I don't think I've changed ." Fin spoke looking a little shocked an disappointed . 

"It's not a bad thing , you have grown so much ." Jen jumped off the bed . "I can see you care about her a lot , I think she likes you too . You need to tell her how you feel ." she grabbed his arms and shook him like she wanted him to realize something . 

"I can't do that , Rowen just died . She loved him ." Fin took her arms off him and took a seat on the bed . 

"She never said she loved him , but she cared for him ." Jen said , Fin knew she wasn't going to leave this alone . 

"I can't tell her , what if she does love me and I die ? Telling her will make her more sad when I die ." Fin knew that could have been the case , he knew something terrible was going to come after him someday , but he couldn't afford to die because he had Jen to protect . 

"You can't die , you promised me ." Jen said bringing up a promise he made when she turned him . He promised he wouldn't die because he owed her a great debt . 

"Fine , I'll tell her ." Fin said frustratingly like she wasn't going to get off his back about it . Fin was hurt by Liz and Rowen dating , he was hurt that Rowen had to die and leave Liz sad , but knowing Liz , if she didn't go too deep into it , he had a chance to love her .
