PART ONE

I threw on a pair of jean shorts, with a red and blue plaid shirt, tying a not in the front, and my black doc martins. I pull my shoulder length auburn hair back and tie a cloth around it, creating a headband. Laughter was strong and loud as I finished brushing my teeth. Smiling at the thought of my family, I leave my room and head down stairs to see my entire family in the kitchen, including Houston.

At the dining table, Kiara was rubbing her stomach as she ate her pancakes and next to her was George, who was sharing his food with his two year old son Steele. On the other side was Liam who was scoffing down his pancakes like they were going to run off his plate and Camilla next to him laughing at his messing eating, while keeping Maya's area clean. Houston and Harley were sitting on the bar stools at the island bar, engrossed in a conversation. Dad was sitting further down the table messing with his gadget, Blake and Peter were both eating cereal while texting on their phones. Mom and Judy were cooking,

"Happy Thanksgiving everyone!" I say,

"Happy Thanksgiving!" They quickly replied then went back to what they were doing,

"Hey, mom," I kissed her cheek, "I see everyone is here, except for grandma!"

"Oh, she's next door!" mom said,

"Mr. Keave's house?" She nodded, "why?"

"She helps him from time to time."

"Helps him doing what?" I immediately cover my ears and shake my head at all the possible helpings grandma could be giving Mr. Keaves! "No, no, no, I do not want to know,"

They laugh and I grab a bowl, fill it with milk then poured my cereal in.

"Why do you do that?"

I look over at Houston, and shrugged, "old habit."

"Her and Colt used to do this weird thing. She would pour milk first while he poured the cereal in his bowl, then they'd switch! I honestly don't know how they started it, but it stuck throughout the years." Harley spoke up,

I looked down at my cereal, losing my appetite at the same time. I push the bowl out of the way not really hungry anymore,

"Yeah, I met the guy, he's pretty cool!" Houston said, "he gave me free tickets to his next football game and field access passes."

I needed to get away from this conversation. I slide off the stool and head for the back-sliding doors that lead to the stables.

"Wait, Auntie, I want to go!" Maya trotted after me.

I look down at her, "how was your breakfast princess?"

"It was good." She laughed, "I like pancakes and bacon!"

I turned to Kiara and George, "It's good to see you guys. Did you get in this morning?"

"Yeah," George nodded, "It was a long drive. We had to stop two times because Steele needed to 'stretch his legs'," he did quotation marks in the air and looked at Kiara who just rolled her eyes,

"Kiara, your pregnant?" I bend down and rest my hand on her stomach,

"Oh yeah! I'm 6 months and it's another boy,"

I groan, "all these damn boys being born. Poor Maya wont have a playmate,"

Everyone looked at Maya as she had her face pressed against the sliding doors, staring at the barn,

"Why is everyone pregnant?" I look at them, "now we will have four new boys in our family. Liam is having twin boys, youre going to have a boy and the Lawrences are having a boy. I should go get pregnant and have a girl or better yet, Harley...."

"Don't you dare finish that sentence," he grimaced at the thought and I laugh,

"Auntie Rory," Maya walked over to me and I look at her and she pointed to the barn,

"Why don't we take MidNight on a run now, huh?" I pick her up and head out the door, "we will be back in time for dinner,"

"Rory, I have packed some snacks for you," Judy followed us outside and handed me a brown paper bag, "I figured you were going on a run today."

"Thank you, Judy," I take the bag and continue our walk to the barn,

When we entered the stables, I grabbed my cowgirl hat and Mayas and walked over to MidNight's stall.

"Who's the pretty boy?" I run my hand down from his forehead to his nose, Maya following my lead. His black coat was smooth and shiny, "did you miss me?"

He snorted and bobbed his head,

Maya gasped, "he can hear you?"

"Yup! We have this special bond!"

"Cool!" Her eyes light up.

I put her down, hand her the hats and grab MidNights saddle. I open the gate and he steps out, giving me the room to throw a blanket on his back then the saddle. I buckle both belts so it fit tightly yet comfortably around his stomach!

I picked Maya up and sat her in the saddle then I climbed behind up and sat behind her.

"You ready?" She nodded. I Put my hat on then put hers on her. I grabbed the reins and lightly kicked MidNight, "let's go buddy!"

The ride was nice. We trotted, galloped then we ran for a little while, loving the way the wind flowed through our hair! We laughed, and she braided, well she attempted to braid, the bottom of MidNights hair.

I steered MidNight towards an open field.

"I want to get flowers for mommy!" she said, eyeing all the flowers,

I take her out the saddle and slid her down his side, not letting go of her hand until her feet hit the ground. Once she's on the ground she starts picking flowers,

"I'm going to run around with MidNight for a bit! Here are some snacks if you get hungry," I hand her the brown bag, "Stay in this open area so I can keep an eye on you okay, Maya!"

"Okay." Setting the bag on the ground, she sits Indian style and continues picking. So I take off on MidNight.

About 30 minutes pass and I head back to where Maya was supposed to be sitting to find that she's not there. Shit! I look around and spot her talking to someone on a different horse. She hands him a flower, he slides off his horse and kneels in front of her, takes the flower and kisses her hand. Oh, hell no! I trot over to them,

"Maya! What did I tell you?" I hop off MidNight and jog over to her. I look all over her to see if this dude touched her, "are you okay!"

"Yes." She nods,

"What did I tell you?"

"I know, I just...." she held a couple of flowers in one hand and the brown bag in the other,

"No Maya, you don't just do that! Your mama and daddy would kill me." Her eyes start to get misty, "oh, baby girl, don't cry! You just sacred me that's all... Come on, let's go home."

I lift her up and she sets herself on MidNights saddle, scooting forward making room for me. I was about to climb up behind her when the stranger spoke up. I forgot he was even there until now,

"Rory?" I froze but I didn't respond, "Aurora?"
